Solstice Armor 2.0 rolls are pretty bad, proposed ideas to let us earn additional rolls

So I ground out (some likely will say foolishly) the Solstice 2019 armor for my Titan. In fairness I really really like the look of the armor so on cosmetics it was worth it. This said the 2.0 version I got from Banshee (per Bungie's information) has pretty mediocre stat rolls to say the least (blue quality 2.0 armor that I've earned within a few minutes of playing has better stat rolls; honestly just about every armor I've earned since the Steam launch has better rolls). Which is a huge disappointment since earning it was quite the time investment. This said I get that you (Bungie) don't want to give us raid/end game tier armor on day 1. But I feel like there are many potential middle ground solutions. 1) add Solstice armor to Banshee's loot table for those that earned it with a chance for random (better) rolls. We still have to grind out the gunsmith materials and get lucky on a drop but we can get rerolls just like any other 2.0 armor 2) add it to the EDZ world loot drop pool for those that earned it. Same as with #1 we have to grind for it and get lucky on a drop but it allows us to get rerolls. 3) add a special engram to Banshee (or some other vendor) that we buy for legendary shards or something (on par with Rahool's engram cost). Same as the first two options this lets us grind for rerolls if we're willing to spend the time/currency farming it. I love that armor 2.0 is trying to divorce stats from style but it's just such a major let down that the Solstice armor isn't something we can earn rerolls for. Please add it to some loot pool so we can earn rerolls and treat the package we got from banshee like pulling exotic armor from collections (ie you get a roll that is far from good but allows you to at least use the armor piece you want while trying to grind out a better roll "in the wild"). EDIT: also add a slot for the seasonal mod. It really stinks that I can get drops of gambit armor that has existed since Forsaken with a seasonal mod slot but the Solstice armor, which required weeks of grinding to get, doesn't have a seasonal mod slot. If armor 2.0 is about divorcing looks from stats we really need a slot for the seasonal mod. EDIT 2: or just make it a universal ornament and call it a day. If it's too hard to enable glows with ornaments just treat each glow as it's own ornament (so we'd have default solstice sans glow + an additional solstice variety for each glow we purchased with a potential of 4 solstice armor ornaments if we bought all 3 glows).

  • Maybe add a unique rune to the menagerie for those of us who grinded it out? They could even make it drop with endgame exclusive stats if you complete it in heroic menagerie.

  • I agree that the 2.0 Solstice package was a letdown. I worked hard to grind it out, then to MW most of it before SK dropped. Come to find out, the stats are "meh" at best, and on top of that, the masterworked pieces only dropped at 5 energy instead of the full 10. It would've been nice to know the 1.0 MW would not be granting fully MW 2.0. The most costly portion of the MW is 6-10 energy. Could've saved myself the headache and grind to get the 1.0 masterwork done if I would've known that. BUNGIE FEEDBACK: 1- Stats on the 2.0 Solstice package were a disappointment as most blue gear outclasses it 2- Fully masterworking the 1.0 gear should've granted fully masterworked 2.0 gear. Since we have to deal with elemental affinity lock on mods anyway, this would not have given veteran players a huge leg up. It simply would've let us dabble in 2.0 without having to spend hundreds of cores and other mats first.

  • Your first mistake was doing the solstice crap to begin with. This is bungie they don’t have any common sense whatsoever. You can count on them for absolutely nothing

    • Three major failings with the Solstice "upgrade" package: 1: It doesn't have a seasonal slot, so you can't slot the dreambane perk into any of it 2: No matter how high you are when you redeem it, it drops at 750, so if you want to be even kind of relevant while wearing it, you have to use no less than five upgrade modules, 15 if you want it on all three classes. 3: There is no avenue to chase better rolls. Did they really think that giving us the bare minimum 2.0 version would be acceptable? More importantly, are we going to lay down and let them disrespect our time and effort?
