Do the menagerie quest from Benedict in the tower to get free 690 gear. DO NOT INFUSE ANYTHING. Everything is going to be upped to 750 automatically at shadowkeep launch so it's not worth wasting the enhancement cores at this time. Just run with the gear you have. There isn't much you wont be able to do not being above 690.

This, I came back pre-annual and decided to do it in order of release. Wasting a few powerful engram bounties till I realized I could be out to 690 right away.
