New Light needs a miracle in the Current state of Y1 content

New Light won't succeed if the current state of Y1 only content is staying as it is. Let's say players have the opportunity to skip story for the base game, move onto Curse of Osiris and Warmind. Some general questions that Bungie should really be thinking about are things like how Mars is handled at the moment. Why bother going to Mars or sticking around? If you're playing Destiny 2, right now and have finished Mars (for the sake of New Light, lets assume you don't own Forsaken or Shadowkeep) why would you ever stick around on Mars until you are 360-370? You cannot effectively meet the light level requirement to participate in Escalation Protocol. You WILL be carried if anything. So will raids and weeklies be the only path for players to gain new gear? What about Mercury? There's more involvement and things to do presented directly to the player, like Lost Prophecies, but why even bother doing the public events on Mercury when any planet gives you culture, any planet's chests gives you culture and only Heroic Adventures and Strikes will give you amplifiers? This brings up another question, what about Strikes? Y1 strikes are nothing but 200 light level story missions with modifiers. These strike bosses can be melted in seconds unless they have an invincibility phase. (which sometimes doesn't even matter) You might as well just run through the strikes ignoring all enemies apart from ones you have to kill, since its a waste of time and you probably aren't going to die anyway. Are Strikes going to be left at this light level, along with the Nightfall for Y1 content? What about Heroic Strikes, STILL not available for Y1. What about the quests that are tied to progression in strikes? Does anyone even LIKE strikes? The only reason I play them and from what I've heard from others, we play them because we have to, never because we want to, or enjoy them. Strikes will be a backbone that will support PvE of Destiny 2 New Light, without them being even looked at, why bother releasing New Light. Why even bother releasing New Light? I understand that Bungie wants new players and from a business point of view, it all makes sense, but Y1 content is some of the worst content in destiny as a whole. I cannot imagine people sticking around, it will be much like when this game was free to own on Battle.Net. I'm genuinely curious if there will be any changes at all, seeing as this is going to be a RoI-sized (and that's generous) expansion. I can't imagine them batting an eye at Y1 content if they haven't added some kind of playlist of scaled up light level strikes for Y1.
