No. Because within a year or two, Bungie will hit the technological limits of what this current generation of console hardware can do....and will struggle to expand the game any further. They ran into the same problem PS3 and XB360 in year 3 of Destiny 1. That same wall is coming wtih the curent machines. There needs to be a Destiny 3...and there needs to be an engine change and a switch to dedicated servers. That way you remove a LOT of the burden of running the game from console hardware....and you dramatically expand Bungie's ability to grow the game. But this game will eventually hit its head against a technology ceiling....and within a few years will likely look and feel dated compared to what the next gen hardware is claiming to be able to do.

  • Next gen? Dude d2 was made on PC and thus is upgradable over time. It scales with any PC and for the next gens whatever they can output wouldn't be much more than what we have going on now basically. Plus wow, Warframe etc tons of games expand continuously. There does not have to be a destiny 3 and personally I don't want it to be the case.

  • The vast majority of the player base plays this game on console....and you can't do that. Plus the CPUs on this generation of consoles are WOEFULLY underpowered relative to how powerful the graphics cards are on PS4 Pro and XB1X. So I'm sorry that you don't want there to be a third game. But there are significant hardware limitation imposed on this game by the design choices made by Sony and MS in designing this generation of consoles....and I really dont' think Bungie is going to allow their only product to be hemmed in by them. This next game will probably be the definitive version of the game----now that Bungie is free from Activision, and can do the job right (from a long-term view)----but there needs to be a game that leaves this one behind, and embraces the MUCH more powerful machines that Sony and MS have planned. You will benefit as a PC player because the game you play won't be so hemmed in by the limitations imposed by the game's console base.

  • Warframe has deleted items in the past, I believe they cut 24gigs of unused content before

  • Dude it's the code that's the problem with D1 and D2, it's hampering bungie and needs to change for D3.

  • We have to embrace the fact that if a D3 will happen it wont be better than D2 unfortunately.

  • Disagree. Especially if Bungie takes the time to change game engines, and switch to dedicated servers.

  • Your argument is way invalid. Go play Warframe. The amount of things added to that game has never hit a limit. I'm way tired of bungie blaming technology for things. Remember when the PS3 made the bank and amount of slots impossible to fix? Then the sold you D2 as only a PS4 title and the slots where reduced ? This excuse is so made up. Just like D2 has a new engine, exact same shit they sold us from D1

I've played Warframe. 1. Most of Warframe's player base is on PC....not console. 2. Most of Warframe's early content is procedurally generated, not hand-crafted. So the game's content takes up less space. 3. Warframe runs on dedicated servers, so the game isn't consuming hardware resources on the player's end in order to run the game's networking. 4. The artwork and animation is simpler...so again...consumes fewer resources to run the game. So Warframe as a lot more headroom to expand on console than does Destiny...but even Warframe will eventually hit its head on the limits imposed by this generation of consoles. This is not an "excuse". I'm sorry, but there are LIMITS to things. There is no Well of Infinite Creativity or Well of Infinite Resources that developers can draw from. They have stay within the confines of what the machines they work with can do. ...and the development of consoles are driven by trying to meet a specific price point ($500 or less)...and the design choices made by the manufactures. A $500 console is simply NOT going to be able to do what a $3000 gaming PC can do....and that's just a fact of Life and fact of gaming. That's why Google Stadia is poised to revolutionize gaming....IF IT WORKS. Because what will determine the limits of the game isn't the capabilities of a box on someone's TV. But rather the server farms at Google....which can have MUCH more powerful machines than are practical for home use. All the player would need is internet fast enough to stream it.....and something internet connected to show it on.

  • Warframe isnt limited by last gen consoles. Also Warframe has had massive overhauls because it was a technologically awful game and needed to be fixed.

  • This. And why PC owners must pay this price for consoles being trash and unable to run the same engine flawlessly like all the PC's can do?

  • "We're upgrading the engine and technology every year; that's part of being a live game service," Noseworthy said. "The good news is, because we have really high-end PC support, we support a variety of platform fidelities already. So when we think about next-gen, we're really excited about moving to that platform someday. We believe the technology and infrastructure we're building already supports ramping up things like resolution and frame rate and lighting. We think we're gonna be positioned pretty well for that transition." Mark Noseworthy, E3 2019

  • I heard that as well. Which is another reason why I think there is going to be a Destiny 3. What he's saying is that---because they already serve the game on PC and consoles basically run a PC architecture these days----that they already have many of the solutions they will need to transition in place. Rather than having to develop them from scratch. But if this engine could handled dedicated servers, it would have done so already. THAT is the major infrastructure change that needs to happen...

  • All true. Except I think he means “spiritually” no D3. Down the road “Destiny: xxx add-on” would simply be the first on the new platform, and bring existing content with it. A stretch to think Bungie could pull that all off of course, lol.
