I think you are overthinking It. D2 offically ended after forsaken/BA. The annual pass is pretty much fillers to buy them time and make some extra cash while they are working on their next project(d3). Only a small portion of their team is actually working on d2 content. Of course we have no clue what they are planning this coming sept.

You’re assuming they’re focusing on D3... and still ignoring the fact that a company gave them $100 million to make games for them other than Destiny... those people have to come from somewhere... the resources. The money. The time... The point is... that investment is a detriment to Destiny as a whole. And it’s hard to overthink. Dark Below, House of Wolves and most of The Taken King were cut content from vanilla Destiny. They were added onto, changed slightly, patches and weapon tuning etc added to the content drops. But all of that content existed pre launch. They didn’t have that option with Destiny 2. So they needed the extra studios to fill those gaps. To create the content. Those studios are now gone. And they now have contractual commitments to another company to make non Destiny games. How do you expect Bungie to be able to keep up with that demand? It’s impossible. That’s not overthinking. That’s common sense.

  • Actually, other companies (with much smaller teams) manage to do ALOT more than Bungie manage. 800 is alot of staff for a developer. The teams that Activision assigned to help Bungie were miniscule in comparison but still managed to crank out content. Funny that.....

  • Dunno what you have goin on in your head, but NetEase is a mobile company, and 100 million is nothing when it comes to game development. Theyre definetely focused on D3, because they STILL have that obligation to Activision, regardless of the split. This whole post of yours is ridiculous lol.

Really? PC-client & Mobile Games: provider of self-developed online client games to Internet users in China; licensee of games by Blizzard Entertainment; developer & publisher of mobile games. Esports: Running an esports team called the Shanghai Dragons, which takes part in the Overwatch League. Internet Media: Operating a network of mobile applications, services and social communication platforms, as well as Internet portals with enriched content. E-mail Services: Largest provider of free e-mail services in China with more than 940 million users as of 2017, in addition to 163.com, the company also runs 188.com, 126.com and more.[20] Youdao Products: Specialized online tools including Youdao Dictionary, Youdao Cloudnote and Huihui.cn. E-commerce: services available to Chinese consumers on both desktop and mobile including Kaola.com, NetEase's self operated cross-border e-commerce platform, online video broadcasting services and insurance products.[21] ——they’re the largest provider of free email services in China... yet you claim they’re only a Mobil game company. Get out of here kid. Do some research before you try to talk to the adults. To put that in perspective, yahoo only has 227 million. Gmail had 900 million. So China, by itself, through NetEase, has almost as many accounts it manages for email as the ENTIRE REST OF THE DEVELOPED WORLD... I miss the days when people thought before they spoke. Kids these days think they know everything, whilst knowing nothing. Also... you say they still owe Activision D3, regardless of the split. Do you know how contracts work? Do you know what it means to buy out a contract, which is what they did? I’ll go ahead and answer that question for you... it means they don’t owe them anything. Period. They’re now self publishing. Opulence is the last bit of content Activision ever touched. So I don’t know why you would think Bungie owes Activision anything after buying out their contract... but I think you seriously need to do a lot more research before you open your mouth and join another conversation. Because right now you’re either grossly misinformed, or purposefully ignorant. In any event, you’re wrong. Period.

  • You are right, they don't owe Activision anything beyond this September, certainly they are not bound to create D3 as part of that contract, now terminated BUT...they did not "buy out" the contract in general terms, Activision terminated the contract as was their right to do at any time. So Bungie bought back the publishing rights because they were exclusive to Activision. Maybe you meant that, IDK
