This is a video game and you're this miffed about honest mistakes?
Do you throw your Big Macs at 16 year old kids when they forget your pickles?
What's it like being someone who never makes a mistake at their job? Have they offered you CEO yet?

Why would you defend this. It aint a mistake its a punishment. Like the army when one person messes up the whole platoon pays for it. Im pretty sure they can find a way to resolve the issue without making everybody suffer.

Bungie is solving the issue the only way they know how. As someone with a background in programming, I can honestly sympathize with them. Mistakes happen and it's unfortunate. But if taking them offline for a short time fixes the issue, I will gladly accept it. Sometimes ya gotta make the hard choices whether or not the consumer likes it. I respect that.

Straw man? People are complaining about an honest mistake in a video game lol There's no straw man argument to be had. They screwed up, people had their fun ruined, some act like they've never made a mistake, and now it's gotta be fixed. No straw man argument. This is the literal observation

I'm not grasping at straws. An honest coding mistake does not equate to not respecting a customer's time. To make a decision to not respect something is a conscientious decision. You knowingly decide to do something. I highly doubt Bungie decided to -blam!- up their own coding and make customers angry lol. So stop trying to spread the wrong narrative. Some people, like OP, would rather act like its the end of the world and that they themselves don't make mistakes. The guns will return as Bungie is doing the honorable thing and fixing the problematic coding. You clearly don't understand argumentative concepts as well as you think. Its okay to be frustrated. I am too. I just unlocked the scout rifle. But sometimes life isn't fair. Acting like OP is just silly and doesn't contribute to anything

They chose to do that, and they did it to protect their broken enhancement core economy. This isn’t about a bug in coding honest mistake keeping the players from earning their reward. They are protecting the broken core economy by preventing the “exploit”. The “exploit” they are preventing is players receiving the weapon multiple times and dismantling it for materials to get around the garbage progression throttling of weapons and armor with false scarcity in enhancement cores. So Bungie has earned the negative feedback they receive from players.

Whether or not their enhancement core economy is broken is a matter of debate. It hasn't stopped many from reaching 700 quite easily. They are protecting a current model of their gameplay. It may or may not be popular with the community, but it IS a chosen design choice. A choice they are preserving the best way they know how. That is not a disrespect, it is an inconvenience to the player.

Imagine comparing a $1 burger from a fast food restaurant that takes 30 seconds to make to a gun in a game people spent $100 worth of DLC on and playing for hours and not getting the reward they were promised.

I take it you've never read their terms of use? You're not owed or promised anything. You're simply paying for the experience. If you can't accept that, then I suggest you start becoming a more informed consumer.

Pickles are trivial. People put in a lot of work for this. Maybe compare this to not getting your check when it's due. Nothing to really do but see how soon the fix comes. Too bad things like this overshadow truly positive things about the game.

Video games are trivial. This is nothing like missing a paycheck. Destiny doesn't put food on my table or a roof over my head. It never has and it never will.

I guess neither is bringing up your issues with a game much like assault, but you were fine with that. People use their time for entertainment, and in this case to earn something, and Bungie just failed on their end.

Agreed, no company is perfect. They're working on a fix right now. I know it's aggravating and people are mad, but it's just a video game, and Bungie made a mistake they're trying to fix. Hopefully, it will come out very soon.

They didn't say we couldn't have the guns. They had to disable to them to fix an issue and they will be returned in an orderly and fixed manner.

What point have I missed exactly? A piece of code was let out into the wild that severely impacted the way the Bungie meant for their game to be played. People took advantage of that coding and exploited it. That exploitation ruined the fun for people who were late to the party. Myself included having finished the scout rifle grind this morning. People act like it's the end of the world. Like I said, accidents happen.
