We've gone beyond reasoned arguments at this point, OP. But if you really want one, I would submit that almost every activity in this game has been complained about by somebody that it is a chore. Gambit, Crucible, Raids. People whine about not being able to get the rewards and all the things they have to go through to get them. The difference is that Enhancement Cores is a convenient scapegoat because people can't get the cores and run out of them too fast. Here are what I think need to be addressed to actually solve the problem of the frustration with enhancement cores, without getting rid of them: 1. Bungie needs to point out that the best way to obtain Enhancement Cores is by far by Obtaining more legendary gear and sharding it. Spider is your greatest ally. You pour glimmer into his pockets, he gives you materials. You do his glimmer bounties to get it back. With those materials and more you get from planetary daily bounties, you turn most of them over to get rolls from vendors. Save some of your mats. Some people call this a work-around. I call it Tit-for-tat. 2. Stop upgrading as soon as you get a power upgrade. Resist the desire to show off. Not every activity is power level enabled, so do your upgrades before you start those. Your maximum power drops are determined by what you can equip, not what have you equipped. This problem is huge and people never talk about material mismanagement because we are used to treating everything like its as abundant as glimmer. 3. In the same line of thinking, don't Masterwork everything you see. Masterwork things that are your go to gear when your team needs you to be at your best to make Orbs. Masterwork only your most important armor set for Raids or Crucible, otherwise you can wait. 4. In addition, realize the value that this gives to bringing more value back to varied activities that can take you to places that were irrelevant a year ago, when we had nothing better to do or save up for. Scrapper bounties also can be a surprise of where it can take you, and you can knock out daily bounties while you go there. Thankfully these are being changed into bounties with the Gunsmith soon, so you can choose where you want to go and when you get these. That's all I got.

 • While I appreciate your post, it was quite well presented. Why do you think they should be used for infusion? Consider that it is not an acquisition argument being made against them. So the solution of adding more sources doesn't really address a fundamental complaint. Why do we need to limit how much gear people can infuse? Cores main value is in master working. That is a good thing. Most people aren't trying to infuse every item every time they get an incremental drop. That speaks to their scarcity not really being the problem. As for value added, how? How do cores add value? Master working was not worth it in most cases last year. But that changed in Forsaken, meaning that in and of itself, instantly made cores more valuable, and made their acquisition more worthwhile. But how does dissuading a player from infusing another duplicate weapon or armor piece into something they currently enjoy using, serve anyone? I have a Warlock about mid way through the forsaken campaign. I like using Crimson. Now suppose I do the boost bounties and jump him to 640. My Crimson is 623. But I happen to do the weekly crucible milestone and get my 10th better devils. It has no value to me other than it is 659. Are you suggesting that cores are necessary to make upgrading my Crimson with that cast of Better Devils have impact? Or that I should wait until I hit max level to use it again? If so, why? What difference does it make if I use it, or if I use my "new" better devils? Or if I wait for a Crimson to randomly drop, or be sold by Xur? Infusion isn't where the engagement comes from in Destiny. Finding gear, USING it. Picking and choosing, THAT is what made the game fun. Farming is a function of all games like this, and that's fine. Hell there are times when I even find it relaxing. But the game shouldn't dictate how much of my inventory I can upgrade, and I shouldn't have to cheese the game via exploits for a material that already has it's place elsewhere in the system. Again, thank you for your response.

 • I don't think we need cores for upgrading to feel impactful. I think even with the way materials are now, just having those as a requirement with gunsmith mats would still be cool and bring in some nice experiences when trying to get the materials. Still, Cores bring in more to think about and requires much more careful management. Even though you can run out of materials faster, you can earn materials in larger quantities than you can cores. When I say they bring value, I mean it makes your gear have more labor put in them. We know what it's like to have a hand-out that you didn't earn, and how materials for infusion makes you feel like you earn things more. The point of departure is that some people think yet another currency is irritating. I had argued that they are mostly irritating because of their current mismanagement, but it's entirely possible that many individuals still would be bothered by juggling multiple responsibilities just to get an upgrade. I'm just defending why I'm not bothered by them to be honest. I wouldn't mind if Bungie decided to change the system, so long as there are incentives to go earn things on frequent basis, rather than a one time affair.

 • Lost sectors have been used for faction rallies and practically every 'quest' since BA. We don't need a reason to do them, we've done them enough already.
