Couple things about modding:
1. You can just use the nexus mod organizer it’s stupidly easily but if you still have trouble hit up YouTube I would recommend Gopher he explains it pretty well.
2. As for the number of mods.... you better have a neatly computer to install 400 mods. Also most mods should play nicely together unless they change or add some to the world in the same location. Or just read the description page it should tell you what will mostly conflict with it
You’ll need SKSE and I highly recommend LOOT
SKSE is needed for most mods and LOOT will organize your mods in what it thinks is the best load order.

Visuals are pure preference. You might go through the top mods page. Remember it's easier to add mods in then it is to remove them.
