A few notes on what I've seen so far. 1. the difference between red legion gear compared to the scouting legions, this is probably an advancement in technology since we see the loyalists using this equipment as well (the jumppacks, expanding shields, shortswords and grenades) and the scouting legions showed up on the sol system quite soon after the collapse. 2. We shouldn't really count on the information from the valus ta'arc strike, since he seemed to be particularly powerful (he commanded the entire battlenet, so the arrangement with the vals he had might have been a specific case) 3. personally, i wouldn't list the dominus position since gary could've called himself emperor and it wouldn't have been any different 4. on the emperor thing, we could draw lots of information from ancient rome. it is a known thing that calus disbanded the senate (so we can assume that there used to be a cabal republic as well). so we might be able to garner some information from these parallels. 5. It seems like ghaul actually expanded the red legion after the midnight coup, so other legions might have been disbanded and absorbed (source, skyburner's oath) 6. The loyalists are probably in the same boat as the red legion, seems like a north vs. south kind of thing so i wouldn't stress the importance. also there's that one legion from that nessus adventure that served as the prelude to the raid that was numbered so there should be a ton that are just called "21st imperial shock troops" or whatever.

 • Thx for putting so much time and thought into a response. I have a few replies :)
1. the difference between red legion gear compared to the scouting legions, this is probably an advancement in technology since we see the loyalists using this equipment as well (the jumppacks, expanding shields, shortswords and grenades) and the scouting legions showed up on the sol system quite soon after the collapse.
That’s smart, I never considered that the technology difference could be from time. However, the Loyalists having the same equipment can be explained by Calus providing all of his followers with the best equipment, which we know he does. And in Cabal society, it’s honestly not surprising that a larger and more powerful legion would have some better gear
2. We shouldn't really count on the information from the valus ta'arc strike, since he seemed to be particularly powerful (he commanded the entire battlenet, so the arrangement with the vals he had might have been a specific case)
I actually used the grimoire as a source. While there strike only shows that there are Siege Dancers working for him, the grimoire actually states that he controls their entire faction directly, unlike the other factions of the Mars Cabal.
3. personally, i wouldn't list the dominus position since gary could've called himself emperor and it wouldn't have been any different
True, Ghaul could’ve titled himself whatever he liked, but the position was still created and holds a very important role to the Cabal society. There’s actually a position called the “Evocate-General, Primus of all Legions” that still exists and serves almost the same purpose as Dominus. But this wasn’t included on the post because it’s a Primus position, and Dominus is actually a military position that holds power almost equal to the Emperor and controls all military matters. It’s just like the Kell and Archon Priest for the Fallen.
5. It seems like ghaul actually expanded the red legion after the midnight coup, so other legions might have been disbanded and absorbed (source, skyburner's oath)
The events of Skyburner’s Oath are actually when the Red Legion arrive on Mars. While the surviving Skyburners are being incorporated into the Red Legion they find out that Calus was betrayed and some rebel against Ghaul. So the Red Legion has picked up at least a small handful of extra hands over the years, but there’s nothing significant about that because the thing about armies is that they always add more soldiers to bolster their forces.
I actually added the Loyalists to the list after having a discussion with another commenter. While it is odd for me to put them here since they are not an official legion, they are still united under Calus and are significant enough to the game to get some mention. They even have their own faction uniform. As for the 21st Company of the Red Legion that you mentioned, I researched that in the making of this post and they’re just a subdivision of the Red Legion. As mentioned in the post, the Red Legion is divided into Companies, which in turn are divided into Platoons (there may be a few more divisions in there, but they haven’t been mentioned before) Again, thank you for the comment, I truly appreciate correction and debate

 • np problem m80, not to often i find people that are versed in the lore (PS good job in not including the Grey legion, it would've been somewhat easy to fall into that 'trap')

 • It's from forsaken, one of the barons (the trickster one forgot his name) called "terminus of the grey legion". and the evidence says that the title was just one that this fallen gave himself (or herself), so the grey legion probably never existed
