It should be mentioned that in the event of a Valus' death, the senior Val serving under the deceased Valus will assume the position of Valus. And what records do we have of the Dust Giants and Sand Eaters not having a Primus of their own? Last I checked, the Blind Legion was mostly reserved for dealing with Vex threats. The Bling Legion was not the senior legion. It did not have authority over other legions. It was comprised of more officers and higher performing soldiers to better combat the Vex, not because it organized other legions or anything. Granted, it's been literal years since I've read D1 Cabal Grimoire, but I'm remembering this all fairly vividly.

  • I didn’t think the Val thing was worth mentioning because it’s obvious that someone in the position immediately below would succeed the higher position if that individual were to die I originally assumed that each of these groups had a Primus in charge, but when I discovered that the Siege Dancers were led by a Valus and the only groups with any records of a Primus were the Blind Legion and Skyburners, it became clear that the lesser 2 groups must also be divisions under the other Valus. The Blind Legion’s Primus is a very confusing subject since none of the other groups have a Primus and it seems far more likely that Valus Ta’aurc served the Primus of the Skyburners, so the most likely option seems to be that the Blind Legion is a miniature Legion that may have even formed after the conquest of Mars began in order to combat the Vex

  • The Val thing was specified for a reason, I assume. Maybe, when a Valus dies, the senior Val under his command takes up the title "Valus" and assumes command, unlike other Cabal who do not take up the title? We see in The Taken King that once the Skyburner Primus dies, the Valus do not increase in rank. I think it's obvious that the remaining Valus became stand-in Primus, but they didn't attain the title. Regardless, it was a neat tidbit of info. Yeah, you're spot on about the Blind Legion. That's always how I interpreted them. A smaller, more focused legion that was formed as a response to the Vex. Is that how you described them in your original post? If it is, then damn I must be blind. (pun intended) I thought you implied they held authority over the other legions.

  • Hmm, that is a very good point on the Val thing, but unfortunately I’m at the character limit on the post already 😅 It was only a slight misread. I said that the Blind Legion was superior in skill to all the others but is still commanded by them

  • Ah! Ok. That makes more sense. I read that as the opposite. Shame about the character limit. Oh well, I always thought it was a cool detail, but I guess it isn't necessary. :)
