Star Wars, Destiny And Why Fandoms Are Cancer

Has anybody been paying attention to what has been happening with the new Star Wars movie, lately? If not, the basic idea is that a section of the fanbase is acting like a bunch whiny children, doing everything in their power to try and alter or remove The Last Jedi. Bad reviews, harassing the director, petitions to have the movie removed from the Star Wars canon... it's quite a rancid mess and, frankly, it's a stupid one too. The film itself is actually a great one! Instead of following the textbook Star Wars experience that The Force Awakens did, which led to many considering it to be too cookie-cutter, they went for new ideas and a different experience that still held itself within the Star Wars universe. However, the complaints are now shifting and are focused on how the new film is too different, giving way to further (and rather incorrect) criticisms about the plot, characters and other elements of TLJ. Funny. Isn't that what has been happening to Destiny 2? Because, y'know, the game is full of new concepts and ideas. It tries to create a new experience while maintaining its connection to the Destiny universe, making it a unique game of its own standing next to the original... and it works! It feels different and exciting to play, but still has that Destiny vibe that players enjoy. However, the vocal majority of you won't have it for some reason. You all slander and accuse Bungie of making D2 too different, pointing out X flaw or Y mistake like it deserves to be a big deal. Even the posts about Eververse, the service that is 100% optional and full of nothing but cosmetic items that you can get for free by simply levelling up, are just inflated and disproportionate complaints being used to attack Bungie. I get it, both fanbases are passionate and dedicated to both Star Wars and Destiny... but there has to be a line somewhere in the sand, one that should never be crossed. You cannot just demand and carry on like a ravenous horde, creating wild and unrealistic expectations for the kind of movie/game you want and getting mad that you didn't get it because the makers wanted to try something new. Another thing of note is that both Rian Johnson and Bungie are fans of their own creations. They want to make something for the rest of us to enjoy and have fun with. They get that not everyone will be happy with everything in their works, but that does not mean that they deserve to be harassed and treated like garbage because someone with a keyboard has a huge grudge over Bounties being turned into Challenges and placed on each Destination, to be cycled over randomly, or that Kylo Ren's scar is not in the exact same spot it was in the movie from two years ago, despite the fact that it actually is there but gradually being healed and repaired. What I am trying to say is that it is high time that this community finally stops its incessant whining, actually work with Bungie in making D2 better and then strive to help other people enjoy it as much as we do. No more upvote threads. No more "<---- this is how many people" threads. No more behaving like rude neanderthals with superiority complexes. Real, constructive feedback. Geniune support for Destiny and Bungie, because we want the game to actually succeed, not to fail. Accepting new players into our community and making it as friendly and fun as possible. This is what truly needs to happen.
TL;DR Version: Stop being such rude shits and start acting like civilised human beings. Destiny 2 is a fun game and can only improve if the fanbase actually act the part and offer their feedback without being total losers all of the time.
• Gotta disagree on this one. Even though I loved TLJ... The problem with Destiny 2 (from a fan's perspective, mine) is that if you hold the 2 games up next to each other without titles, D2 seems like the predecessor. That's an issue. There's just no arguing that they made the game more 'accessible' and dumbed it down a bit, to the point it became somewhat bland and more difficult to stick with for extended periods... I get what you're saying about fandom and crybabies - and I agree with you. I still play Destiny 2 a lot. But it's not so much different from Destiny 1 as it is just... less...
