I think it’s time for we hardcore players to face the music

Destiny is no longer targeted to us. Just browsing the forums, casual players seem totally content with the game and are enjoying it massively while we hardcore players are up in arms over the fact that we were 305 week two and have nothing to do. Bungie wants the game to be easily picked up and played for “fun” not no lifed by hundreds of thousands of Dattos. It sucks but the game just isn’t for us anymore. Think, the new DLC will come out, we’ll finish it in a few days tops and then go right back to complaining about there’s nothing to do. A casual would have MONTHS of entertainment from the upcoming winter DLC. We are the minority now ladies and gents and just got shafted by the developers. EDIT: As some people have noticed I HAVE NOT completed the raid yet. As far as the reason, at the time I couldn’t be bothered. I had no interest in the raid and was also already around LL 300 at the time. I know people will read this, roll their eyes and scream excuses which is justifiable but I do plan on doing the raid at my earliest convenience an anyone who’d like to team up and complete it together, I’d be happy to squad up with. ~Nyahh! =^,.,^=

People are going to play the game the way they want to play it, I suppose. But I don’t understand racing to hit max power and consuming all the available content when you know it will be some time before Bungie puts out any new and significant content. I’ve played since launch a couple of hours most weeknights and a lot more on the weekend. I play little else at the moment (well, I have been playing that new Metroid game, but I digress). I don’t know if that makes me a hardcore player or filthy casual. It doesn’t matter to me. There are still exotics I want to track down (still looking for that Sweet Business) and I’ve yet to hit the power level cap, I’ll get there when I get there. Aside from completing the raid and dipping a toe into Trials, which I actually want to do this go around, I think I’ve done about everything. New content or not, I’m still enjoying just playing the game with my friends, who surprisingly (being lapsed Destiny players) haven’t bailed on the game yet. I don’t think there’s any question that Destiny 2 is a little light on end game content at the moment, which does not surprise me. Destiny 2 is not a perfect game. Neither was its predecessor, but it’s very good and there’s nothing quite like it IMO.

    • Pisses me off how they were so stingy and gave so few crucible maps and strikes. It is actually disgusting. Give us D1 maps if you are too stupid or lazy to design new maps.

    • Lucky are the ones who are sitting at 305. I've been grinding for 3 weeks with 3 characters at 304, each missing one piece of armor. We are the red herrings of Destiny 2. The few, the proud.....the frustrated and soon to be bored.

    • I fail to see how a 20 hour MP game appeals to casual gamers. Casual gamera flock to games that are endlessly replayable. COD, minecraft, GTA, etc

    • WOW was for hardcore players, Destiny 1 was something of a promise to be like that and for 3 years we waited for each DLC to see if it was going to actually become that. Destiny 2 killed all of that completely. Destiny 2 shows where Bungie and the team want this game to go and its nothing like what was envisioned. The only thing the bungie team seems to be focusing on are stupid emblems. They want us to have the same passion for an emblem as they do. Thats just stupid. Screw your emblems. They are worthless crap made by lazy programmers who couldn't program a tic tac toe game from scratch. It makes me kind of wonder how many people they have working there. From the looks of it, not many and I bet over half of them are all temp workers .

    • May I suggest making a Titan or beating the raid? Unless I'm looking at some other AishaCtarl's raid report you have 0 clears and 0 kills in the raid Mr. "Hardcore." lol

      • I have to agree that the game is built more toward the casual player. I am a hardcore Destiny player. I would love if there was more rewarding things to do but then again maybe it is time to move on to other games between leveling up to max within 2 weeks, playing milestones once a week and waiting for the next DLC. Who knows playing other games may bring me to find a different game I like more than Destiny!! Will have plenty of time between now and next DLC to find out!

      • No game is meant to be played 24/7. I mean... how do you even do that? That's not healthy, at all. The hardcore mentality begins and ends with the players, not the games. Some games are more difficult, sure, but the obsessive compulsion is all on the player. Don't make it sound like it's bungie's fault for not pandering to your need to sit in front of a television all day and night.

        • Self-proclaimed "hardcore player" I see? Go play another game then. There are many more titles that are more challenging and have higher replay value. Bungie caters to where the $$ signs will yield larger revenue streams and profits. That would be the majority of Destiny players which are casual, not hardcore, players. Simple as that.

        • Hardcore players were always a minority. But we still going ways to enjoy the game. Giving back to the community is one of the most rewarding things you can do as a hardcore. I know, I know, friendship is endgame blah blah blah, but seriously; helping others enjoy the game even when is pretty enjoyable.

          • Getting to max power level surely shouldn't be the only source of fun in a game. For me, what makes destiny fun is playing together with friends, discussing strategies or new methods of gameplay to challenge ourselves. -a super casual player

            • Yeah that pretty much sums it up! I think the casuals also enjoy the subtle things more too, just walking around the environments and starring at stuff. Definitely a lot to look at and explore this time around with Destiny. I'm a casual and loving it so far.

            • Bungie is in trouble then, as reports keep coming in that sales are down 50% from D1. If you assume that most of the "hard core D1" players purchased D2, then that significant dip in sales is coming from the casual player base that Bungie designed the game specifically for while alienating the hard core players. That's a pretty big problem, when you consider that casual players, don't definitely purchase the DLC, don't purchase silver, and don't shop for Bungie products on the website. You can bet Bungie budgeted for a pretty decent revenue stream from this title for the next 3 years, then promptly false adveritised and spit in the face of the very group of players prepared to make icremental purchases for the life of the game. "There will be tons of loot!" Remember that from the trailer? Its gone from that to "its a collection game with friendship as the best reward." They lied to our faces.

                • You're 100% right... Bungie sold-out us loyal veterans to try and increase the audience of casual players. Bungie doesn't give a shit if we play the game for thousands of hours or just login once a week... as long as we open our wallets and buy the game. It's nothing but a money grab by Bungie!!!

                  • As a casual, this game has little to offer me... I played a Titan to 300+ completed the story, Raid, Prestige Nightfall, flawless Trials etc Then it was a choice of doing nothing, or redo everything on a Warlock and Hunter which has 90% the same class abilities as was in D1... As the story was exactly the same irrespective of choice of guardian there was little incentive for me to do everything again for no apparent reason apart from lack of content... ... In the end, I chose the wise decision of returning the product to the retailer and got a full refund, but even now I feel ripped off despite not spending a penny (cent if US) on the game. The game simply is not fun, it's a bad game no matter how you look at it, and especially considering the AAA status, huge budget, advertising etc the game might have been a commercial success, but Bungie have been exposed and a mass exodus of gamers have moved on. The practice of delivering a half complete game which is fixed over three years and then release a new broken game and repeat the cycle needs to stop, we the gamers are suffering whilst the publishers are laughing all the way to the bank. Protest with your wallets and stop playing the game, its the only way to really make an impact. Once the shareholders start getting concerned, it'll kick the devs to actually deliver something good.
