No one can force you to get the most out of a game but if you want the most out of Destiny you will have to find a solution to your self imposed limitations. Not every clan, activity, or situation demands a mic and the activities that do, you could probably find a way to schedule time to complete at a convenient time.
If it's social anxiety then find a clan of like minded people with the same issue you'll be surprised how eventually everyone starts to talk when needed.
We had a guy in our clan who never spoke, sometimes he would join the party and ten minutes later we would forget he was there. None of us ever forced him to speak and you know what? Now he won't shut up half the time. Not once have we ever considered excluding him, not when he was quiet and not now that he is chatty.

i"m a quiet player, even in my team. The other day a teammate said, "Noiz, you scare me when you talk. You hardly say a word". Long story long, we finish the objective everytime.

Just to add to this. Yes the raid requires communication but not everyone has to talk, if there's one silent person in the group that person can do the roles that don't need callouts. Only the crystal bearers and the lead scout need to talk in Gardens. Don't really need to say much in baths as long as people do what they need to do. Gauntlet only the runners really need to say anything. And for Calus only the shadow realm players need to call out. You can participate in the raid without saying a word. You could use the emotes for silent communication too.
