Leaving Destiny 1 like this is Irresponsible Bungie not to mention disrespectful to what it's done for you!

This post is directed straight to you Bungie. People are still buying Destiny 1 today, and for you to leave the game in this state with no more updates or fixes is quite simply irresponsible. Matchmaking is a mess, server stability is a mess, hit registration is RNG, weapon balance and lack of special ammo is a joke and the game is more infuriating to play than it is fun. A "simple" patch that disables past balancing acts in PvP and PvE putting it back to the still FUN HoW era! At least it would promote Bungie and not cast it the unfortunately growing bad name. Otherwise how is this current state supposed to encourage any new players to buy Destiny 2? Especially if they didn't get chance to play the D2 Beta.

  • Would you seriously keep applying duct tape to the side of boat if its sinking? They jumped ship, like a bunch of rats they swam to the nearest boat of their making. I look forward to either seeing the next boat sink or float. Bungie better bring their A game and not have left it permanently with Halo 2.

      •
Matchmaking is a mess, server stability is a mess, hit registration is RNG
It's been like this since launch, they could minimize the issues for the playerbase that is still active by removing SBMM, but most likely they are not going to do that. And even if they did, the netcode would still be bad and it will stay that way because they are not going to use any resources for a game that is at the end of its life cycle.

        • OP has the right idea but I think the better solution is to officially end Destiny 1 in-game. Let new players know the limitations of Destiny in the age of Destiny 2. Basically a simple message letting players know that no changes are coming, there are no more live events, no guarantee they will be able to match players into full fire teams for strikes or Crucible, and nothing they do will carry over to Destiny 2.

          • Dude , simply they don't care . Any caring company would invest into new servers for their brand new game. Instead Bungie is going to use the exact servers you are using today with Destiny 2. Why do you think since Destiny 2 beta everything on Destiny 1 servers are f..ked ? Because they tweaked the servers for Destiny 2. Why do you think they are removing IB and Trials from D1 ? Because they know the servers are not even good enough to handle Destiny 1 yet they will use it for Destiny 2. If you are a long time guardian you'll know one thing for sure : Bungie doesn't give a f...k to any of Guardians or their feedback unless you are a streamer :)

            • If you haven't already, I suggest trying Titan Fall 2 it is 60fps and has dedicated servers. I enjoy it a lot. And a few weeks ago they added free content, it's just a horde mode but they didn't charge you for that game mode.

              • Why spend money and resources on a three year old game that is about to become pretty much obsolete and dead since it's sequel is coming out in less than a month? It's like buying a new car but still changing the oil and getting new tires for your old car that just gathers dust in the garage. Best to just scrap it and move on

                • Like IHATEPENGUINS25 said why would bungie waste time, money and resources on a game that will be obsolete in about 3 weeks it literally doesn't make sense to waste all of that time, money and resources on this game anymore and if the game is in such a bad state then why do you continue to play it

Don't you worry it's not staying like this. They still have to remove all the weekly rotations like the raid challenges which are usually the things that take the most time to learn and finish. But you know gotta force everyone to D2. But seriously any pvp changes are a pipe dream

                • It's always been a mess, why should it change now? They can't keep updating destiny 1 because they are using the same engine for destiny 2.

It was bound to happen when they announced that there will be multiple titles over the course of ten years. Its due to the way they ended up going about creating destiny. It's not feesable to support a game as a developer in which nearly all of the playerbase will be moving to D2. If they did something like what Warframe does where the game continuously evolves and adds new content they wouldn't have this issue and Warframe is a much more complex game below its surface so what does that tell you. They also separated D1 from D2 heavily, beyond a couple redundant emblems. What I mean is that there is literally ZERO reason beyond wanting to experience the chopped up story to actually play D1. To put it differently lets look at Guild Wars 1 and 2. Despite GW2 being out picking up GW1 still yields rewards that can transfer to GW2 via the Hall of Monuments. Plus GW1 is still supported although automatically and only minor support, bug fixes and scheduled tournaments. Whats curious in all this is the introduction of D2 on the PC. Aside from the many benefits or lack thereof it's technically easier to maintain and expand a game on a PC then it is on a console.

                    • I'm willing to bet that out of the 10 people buying D1 today 9 PC players looking to catch up on the story/lore in preparation for d2

                      • People that already have Destiny 1 will likely see the messy state of the game and think maybe they should buy D2, because Bungie's obviously not going to fix any of the problems in the old game: they only support the current release. Yes, there is the chance that some will think "well if the old game is this messed up, I have no faith the new one is any better." Bungie doesn't care about those players. They're marketing to those who are interested enough in the game to give it another shot. Potential buyers of Destiny 1, meaning those who have never played, aren't going to know about the problems the game has until after they buy it, at which point Bungie/Activision has their money and doesn't care. Alternatively, they'll ask if they need D1 in order to play D2, which of course the answer is No. Therefore, they may skip D1 altogether and never know about the messy state it's in. Bungie does not care, because they are no longer actively trying to sell Destiny: they're wholly focused on D2. If those that start the franchise at D2 eventually go back and buy D1, they wont care about the messy state because they'll likely only have bought it for the story (such that it was) and various background lore. Sort of like reading the Hobbit after already having read Lord of the Rings. Unnecessary, but good for additional information. So ultimately, it's disappointing to see Bungie leave D1 in the condition that it is in, but understandable. They figure that people will either buy it knowing it's flaws, or will hate the flaws in it enough to go buy D2. Either way, it's money in Bungie's coffers, and that's all that really matters to them.

I just want to se them turn bk the meta to HoW or April update but they see D1 as a competitor for their new cash cow, D2. Truth is tho I wont play D2 unless they start undoing a lot of the major changes D2 is bringing (an unlikely event). I might still be willing to play D1 if it was fun again, but in its current state, it is not. But if they made it fun again and kept me connected with the Destiny universe, immuch more likely to take a second look at D2 and may be convinced to give it a shot at a cheaper price if I see real changes going in the right direction. And at worst, i skip D2, but perhaps D3 brings me back. Blizzard's best advice for bungie was that players will always leave their game, but its their job to make sure that when they do, they leave the game happy. So far, bungies done a TERRIBLE job of doing this, and it may cost themsome paying customers in the long haul.
