Excellent, I laughed. Most absurd line in Destiny. He controls by Taking. But he can't control an Ogre, unless it's Taken....WTF?!

  • Technically the line makes sense, it's like saying "not even he can control a wild horse, unless he breaks it" Still a stupid line though.

Ogres are like beasts. The Hive tame them, but they can't consciously order them around or 'tell' them what to do. They can just direct where they go and offer them if a ritual requires it. Ogre's aren't soldiers, they're beasts in the very sense. Rage personified. Usually, the Hive drop them in battle and let the Ogres have at it. Or they place Ogres in certain locations, sort of like a 'lion in the pit', in the regard of defending a location. But an Ogre does not 'follow orders'. They are not soldiers, you can't control them in the sense of the word. It's silly, but think of Ogres as a cat. Sure, they're your pet and they might love you, but you can't 'tell them' what to do. You can give them signs they follow or ques they learn, but you never 'order' the cat to do something through words or will 'alone' (which is what it means). Not like a dog. In that sense, you never 'control' your cat. You just hope to earn their trust enough (or just come like you enough) that they at least sometimes don't resist where you direct them too. When Oryx 'takes' an Ogre, he is said to give them glee. To give them happiness. Oryx gives Ogres the capacity to 'want' things, and in return, respond to commands because they 'want' to obey. They want to destroy. Where once the Ogre simply destroyed because that's just what it does, now it 'chooses' to destroy because it actually wants to. Oryx takes an Ogre, and he turns it into a soldier, no longer a beast of nature.
