Leveling up the gunsmith (testing weapons) is pointless beyond level 5. The only exception is if you're still under 390 light for the packages, but you can get 390 light stuff from any other faction and much faster as well. Otherwise, once you get to level 5 and unlock the quest, just buy an armsday order for the weapon you want and wait, weeks if necessary, for the best roll you like.

  • Each Rankup gives you 1 free weapon which doesn't take up the max 3 orders space. Sometimes you get lucky and its the god roll that you wanted. So its not pointless.

You don't get to pick what's in the package. It could be an OK Scout Rifle, it could be a terrible shotgun. The only point of packages is to get infusion fuel if you get a crummy roll and you're under 390 so you get something to maybe boost the light of a weapon you like. That's why I said if you're already over 390, then it's pointless because that's the light level cap for packages. With armsday orders, however, you can choose which weapon you want, and then the following week when it arrives, you can choose one of three rolls. Remember, we're already at rank 5 and there's no quests beyond that, but you only need to be rank 3 to be able to select any roll. If you don't like any of the three rolls, you can wait until the following week and get three new rolls on the same order. You can repeat this as many times as you like until you get a roll you like, so long as you don't pick up the order.

  • This game is all RNG even if you don't get to pick what's in the Rankup package sometimes RNGeezus blesses you with a surprise. And then ranking up even after 5 is all worth it. I mean, all the other Factions have RNG packages, but we still bother ranking them right?

  • Armsday you can nearly bypass RNG completely and get three chances at the roll you want for the weapon you chose per week, and you get to choose when to accept the order. You can accept it on the first week, you can wait 3 months to accept it. Plus, you can stack orders. You can have orders for any kind of weapon of your choosing waiting at the gunsmith, each with 3 weekly chances at a perfect roll. Or you can take the chance with the package once every 2-3 weeks that gives you one roll of one weapon, neither of which you can choose.

  • My point is, the Rankup package is a Bonus If you want a specific roll on a specific weapon, you keep the Order and get 3 rolls per week, yes. But every 2-3weeks you get the Potential for a 4th roll if the rank package turns into the gun you wanted. Even if the odds are tiny, its still better odds than not ranking at all.

  • Yeah, I see what you're getting at. I don't know, it's just not worth it to me to spend the time testing weaons I guess.

  • Maybe because the test weapons suck, are cumbersome to use, and force you to do boring activities? Maybe it would be more worthwhile if they ... raised the light level to something reasonable, and you could use them in constructive activities.

  • Yeah man, I took the hand cannon and the rocket launcher into the forge yesterday. After 5 rounds, I had 24%on the hand cannon, and 0% on the launcher. I had to load the cosmodrome for the hand cannon, and then fears embrace for the launcher.
