See the statement from Bungie: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/212825953/0/0 Anyone who has EVER shot a pistol knows they're good for short range engagements only. It's a 4" barrel for Christ's sake. What do you expect? Well done Bungie for using "real world" use cases behind your in game weapons! I can't believe the amount of -blam!-ing cry babies in these forums. Petition for this, petition for that. How about you take the game for what it is and go suck an egg if you don't like it?

  • Firing Machine Guns fully automatic as stably we do in Destiny isn't possible in the real world, even with a mount. Even the way we use Auto Rifles in Destiny is a very tall order. Even with all the space magic and nonsensicle perks aside, the game is rampant with mechanics that do not work in the real world for the sake of making things work in a game, meanwhile Hand Cannons are the only weapon class with mechanic designed to make it not work.

So let me get this right, in a FANTASY game based in the FUTURE. Where beings abused time travel, space fight is easy and people can float around shooting lightning bolts from their finger tips. And you still seem to use real life logic in this fantasy game, and this is a good idea? If this was cod, I would have your back 10/10 times. But this is a Alien shooter fantasy game based in the future with magical powers. Please stop saying its a pistol, so it shouldn't have range.

  • The problem is that the augmentation is kicking in too hard also in short range encounters. Well within stand-your-ground ranges. A decently trained user can hit a body at least 80% of the time within such range...higher skilled shooters can hit the body 100%. Not talking 9mm pistols here either, but things like 44mag revolvers and S&W 500's. Posted a video a while back with a guy that unloaded 6/6 to a body sized target in right at 1 minute with a 44. They rolled footage from his head cam at the end. The perspective and distance shown looked exactly like encounters where we see massive whiffs occurring at a much slower rate of fire (3-4 shots per minute). There's also footage of him swapping through 4 or 5 weapons, unloading on multiple targets and he missed only a couple shots out of something like 20 or 24. The point is that it is less an issue of weapon design and more an issue of the user's skill with that weapon...high proficiency should matter, not your luck with some grossly overpowered cheesy RNG mechanic. So no...real world application is not being applied here. They may have been attempting to replicate it with randomization but they have missed the mark in a major way. What they are doing is completely negating skill and unbalancing the weapons when they were attempting to balance them. You can adjust and overcome the difficulty of using an unwieldy tool. No amount of skill can overcome RNGesus.

Thanks for keeping it civil. When you speak to people like that, they don't hear the content of your message, only your vitriolic tone. And rather than provoking thought and being part of the discussion, you mostly just incite people to vulgar euphemisms when thinking about the type of person you must be. So I'm not really sure why you even bothered or what you hoped to accomplish.
