Trials – 6 Kill Round | Game Tape Review (Video and Written Analysis)

For those at work, you know I do my best to take care of you so please enjoy the written section below. The nature of this video makes it hard to get the full experience from reading, but you will get the main takeaway points from my wordage. [Square brackets and italic font attempt to describe what’s going on in the video]. Intro Hey everyone, Dukaness here with episode 10 of Trials Tips & Tutorials. Today’s video is going to take you through a 6 kill round I had on Exodus Blue. I benefited from some good plays, made some mistakes, and was last guardian standing a few times, all of which make this a great video for a break down. Fight vs. Flight [The round starts out with us on A-side and Seizure getting pinched inside heavy room]. In a situation like this, you want to move towards your teammate’s res for two reasons. First of all, he may have damaged his opponent, in which case you can push him to even the score. Or, his opponent could have backed off in which case you can get the res. If there is more than one opponent, hopefully your teammate is calling it out and you can back off. [Either way, in this situation I stop making my way over because I see a blips all over my radar, his orb is covered. They look spread out enough, so I decide I can get a quick kill with the shotgun, so I push the most isolated enemy and do so. Unfortunately, I get hit by a fire bolt, so I immediately get out of there, knowing if I take even one bullet of damage, I’ll burn out]. I make a mistake here though. Taking cover and staying safe is definitely the right play, but I go too far. I probably would have been safe just inside the warehouse, which is closer to the gun fight that my other teammate was in. [I ran almost all the way out of the warehouse]. He actually leaves his man one shot, which implies that had I been there and laid one bullet down, I might have been able to save him. Fortunately, he calls out that his man is one shot. Hearing this, I recognize that my chances will be significantly better if I can finish that enemy off, [so I get offensive and get the kill]. Spare No Inventory In a previous video, I preached that you should save grenades for the best opportunities. There is no opportunity more calling for your abilities than being the last man standing. If you blow all of your grenades and melees at the end of the round, you can simply play safe in the next round and let them charge, so there is nothing to lose. [My grenade and both of my smokes are charged, and I have a man down outside between heavy room and warehouse]. Being in a 1v2, I know I need to act fast before they get another res. [I turn the corner and wombo the first player I see, which fortunately hits him dead on. I know it’s going to finish him, so I immediately get out of his line of sight by sliding behind a truck to avoid taking damage]. Don’t Be A Hero This next part, in my opinion, is the most important lesson in this video, and I want it to be your guys’ number one takeaway. I finished one player with MIDA, and another with a wombo combo. I could find this third player, [who is right on top of me], kill him with the shotgun and get a nice hat trick for the weekly highlight video. The only problem is, that’s a risky play and also selfish. As a streamer, I value my follower’s flawless chance above all else. As a teammate, I owe it to my team to give them the best chance to win. And as a competitor, I want to win games. I know those scenarios may not apply to you, but if your team is trying to go flawless, I know I speak for them when I say they want you to make the better play, not the sexier play. [Which is why I safely bail out of there and go straight for Seizure’s res]. Be Aggressive [After I get him (in heavy room), I identify that the other team has only gotten one res, and we’re in a 2v2]. If we play passive, they’re going to get the res and put us in a 2v3 because their orb is in close proximity to their team, [just outside heavy room and warehouse]. As a result, we know we have to get aggressive and [we push out. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to kill the player getting the res with my MIDA, but knowing he’s weak and closing in on shotgun range as he moves into heavy room, I pull out my trusty Party Crasher and map him. Knowing Seizure is right behind me, I pin our immediate threat between us by shade stepping passed him. Seizure damages our opponent and I finish off the team kill. Seeing my radar, I push out in the direction of their orb to block my opponent from getting another res and manage to get him with the shotgun as well, which secures the round]. Summary (TL;DR) A really quick summary of the takeaway points from this video – when you’re weak, make sure you take cover to avoid the risk of going down, but don’t venture away to the point where you can’t support your team anymore. In an outnumbered situation, use everything at your disposal to survive, get kills and revive your teammates, because you can play passive in the next round while your abilities charge. And lastly, don’t go for montage plays if it risks your team’s chances at winning the game. Outro Let me know if you like this kind of video and if you want to see more of them by leaving a comment. I really am trying to give you guys every advantage possible, and you make it easier to help you when you’re honest with me, so please go that extra distance and give me some feedback. Until next week, that’s it for me guys. Good luck this coming weekend. -Duke
For those that do enjoy this kind of video, this is the third one I’ve made.
