Destiny's Loot System and Behavioral Science/Psychology

What's up guys! It's been a long time since I've posted something on Bungie.net, but I've been really busy researching all of the layers to this video, focusing on the science behind Destiny's reward system. We got a taste of it when John Hopson told the audience at GDC 2015 that Bungie used behavioral psychology to make Destiny's loot based game addicting, but the science goes much deeper than that. I hope you guys enjoy this video, and I'd love to hear your feedback. Thank you!

  • Your video is very well done & well-informed, but I do have 1 problem with it. Bungie definitely still focused on the "30 seconds of fun" part of their game, & expanded on it. The crucible still has those intense moments, & halo never had an activity as big or complex as a raid. Also public events & strikes may get repetitive eventually, but they were still revolutionary for a Bungie title.
