I respectfully disagree. I can see why you feel cheated, but I think you are wrong and don't understand how these things work. I guess this was bound to be since Bungie chose to explore an area that is kind of middle ground between ordinary FPS and MMO. You can argue the Destiny isn't an MMO at all, because you feel it's not "massive" enough, but that is neither here nor there. There are two ways to extend the life of a game brand. The standard method is the release new games every year. Each game is a separate entity. Each year they fiddle with the basic COD brand and package it as a new game. You can replay it as many times as you want, and maybe you can buy some extra game time, in the form of a DLC or two, but the story ends where it ends. The MMO type of game, let's you keep your avatar and let it grow through the game's evolution. The only way the developers can keep adding content, is if they can sell the additional content. Want to continue your story, beyond the original game, sorry but it's not free. As I said, it doesn't matter here or there, if Destiny fits your description of a proper MMO, Bungie and Activision has obviously made the decision to make a game that will grow and expand in the way MMO like WOW do, so they have adopted the financing model for MMO too. I really don't see how they could have done anything else, if they're serious about keeping the game alive for 10 years.

  • I think your confusing an MMO with a subscription pay model. Yes destiny is as close to a subscrpiption pay model without being one that console owners have never expierenced before. My quick opinion. People enjoy WOW. So they keep paying to play as the game evolves. Its the same for destiny except if you havent heard of the drama we got shafted hardcore on our expierence for money. People dont like getting lied to. Sold an amazing expierence when its just average.

  • At least we can agree that Destiny is close to a subscription model without actually being one. I also agree that a lot of the drama comes from people who are unfamiliar with this payment structure. As for being sold an average instead of amazing, that is entirely in the eyes of the beholder. My experience has been very enjoyable and I feel that my money is well spent, even if I can aee ways the game can be improved. I think the whole argument that we have been somehow tricked by the greedy Activision, because we didn't get the whole game at once very naive, however. Bungie must have had tons of ideas for content, before they would even dare to make this game. Then at some point they would naturally have to sit down and decide how much of this content they would actually use in the initial release of the game and wht they would keep developing for future releases. Why do people insist on seing this as something sinister? If this game is going to live and evolve for 10 years as asubscription model game, Bungie couldn't very well release everything at once. That's not how it works. Now if you feel Destiny doesn't give enough fun for you, then you are of course entitled to your opinion and hopefully you'll find another game more to your liking. That doesn't mean there's big conspiracy behind it though.

  • I do have to ask how much you paid for destiny, because if your a year one player that paid ~$100 then I won't nitpick, but I have a friend who got the game by means of file transfer and just paid for dlc (I think or it's the other way around) but he still plays it even though we have a tendency to bitch and moan about how badly this game was made and how even with only paying for one half of it that this game still wasn't worth the money to him.

  • I have paid for the original game, season pass and now Collector's edition of Taken King. Probably will pay for season pass 2 too.

  • Well, like I said, I won't nitpick. I hope you like the company that sold a beta for ~$60 and resold the final product for ~$40 less (once you take off the dlc prices.)

  • My thoughts on the company are actually mostly indifference, but I do like the game they sell a lot...

Fair enough. Sorry if my post sounded harsh before, it was late and I didn't mean for it to sound the way it looks now that I look at in again.
