Currently, with the advent of HoW, we can reforge and ascend our legendary weapons to our hearts content.
But in the long run...kinetic weapons are dropped as fast as you can ascend Fatebringer. Why? Because there are no advantages to Kinetic damage whatsoever.
A proposal, in order to at least try to encourage some need in reforging and ascending your favorite kinetic weapon, is to provide a generic damage buff that only applies to kinetic weapons.
Back in Halo, the two weapon types (energy and kinetic) had a balance between each other, energy weapons dealt bonus damage to shields, and kinetic did bonus damage to health.
Why can't that be applied here? The burn damage types are each specialized against shields, why not have kinetic damage do a little bit extra against unshielded enemies?

What if kinetic do did damage against all shields. Let's say elements do 100% more damage, 200% with burn. What if kinetic did 50% more damage to shields and they add a burn to double it.
