I'm pretty sure completing the raid DOES drop exotics, and banning all exotics from crucible would kill PVP much more than a simple stat readjustment to one overpowered weapon.

It can drop exotics but the drop rate is super low

However it drastically nerfed a class of weapons that didn't need the nerf and buffed a weapon class that didn't need it. Assualt and scout rifles were good in their intended role and now scout rifles are the main to carry in pvp occasionally swapped for a pulse rifle. My dr.nope is now useless in pvp sadly. =\

My shadow price still works fine. My warlock buddy said his Grim citizen is still effective as well. I feel like a lot of these complaints about the patch are psychosomatic. Everybody sees "Crit damage reduction and reduced range on ARs" and now they have something to blame every time they have a bad match in crucible.
-
Well there is no accounting for bad matches, however when you come across people using the newly buffed weapons vs your own you see how pointless it is. One example was I put around 12 rounds into a guy which then turned around and killed me in 3 shots with his scout rifle. In total I put around 25-30 rounds into him, almost half a clip, versus 3 rounds. Pretty bad "balance" IMO. =\

But there are just so many variables in any given firefight that one slight damage buff/reduction is hardly ever going to be the defining factor. Where your bullets land counts, whether or not you have cover, what kind of perks you have, the impact stability and range of your gun, your toughness stat, how do you know what exact factor causes you to lose any given gun fight? It's unfortunate that people flock to whatever they think is "the best gun in the game" now because it kills the diversity. Seeing everyone use a Suros regime or vision of confluence is very disappointing to me because there's such a range of different weapons. I partially blame these forums for that, everybody who comes on here sees a dozen forums saying "OP BLADE DANCER PLS NERF IMMEDIATELY" so everybody thinks that must be the 'best' class and they make a hunter. Or everybody sees "VEX MYTHOCLAST BEST GUN IN GAME NEEDS NERF" and then we have all these people exploiting raid bosses to get it, now with the new patch it's "VEX IS GARBAGE AND SO ARE ASSAULT RIFLES, SCOUTS ARE THE BEST GUNS IN THE GAME BCUZ DAMAGE BUFF" so everybody thinks that's the only way to have an edge in multiplayer and it's BS. you can play well in the crucible with literally any weapon you want it's supposed to be about personal play style/preferences not just flocking to the newest hype gun.
-
When my personal play style gets nerfed why wouldn't I start using exploits? I was a mid range Titan with ARs, fusion rifles, and MGs but now I have to rebalance because of the stability and damage nerf on ARs.
-
The hasn't been a decrease in AR damage at mid range aside from critical hits which will still get you a kill. You still have the ability to use an auto rifle and do fine in the crucible especially if it has useful perks. These adjustments are negligible aside from the Vex which many people believed was seriously over powered.

Take another look, where base damage is reduced, along with precision, and accuracy/stability.
