this is inaccurate. "dragon" is a term that broadly connects any reptilian creature between cultures. as defined by webster; 1: archaic : a huge serpent 2: a mythical animal usually represented as a monstrous winged and scaly serpent or saurian with a crested head and enormous claws 3: a violent, combative, or very strict person 4 capitalized : draco 5: something or someone formidable or baneful chinese, japanese, and korean dragons are all very similar, 4 legs, two hornes and no wings. indian and south east asian dragons called naga have, typically, no limbs and one huge forward protruding horn,no wings. the king of which having 3 heads resembling a hydra. the hydra, is more commonly referred to as a serpent, but other drakes in greek mythology are generally described as serpents also, often with no limbs and multiple heads. the norse dragon, nidhogg, is described as having wings, but usually depicted as a limbless serpent. DnD and final fantasy describe a bahamut as a dragon, though in actual mythology, it is a giant fish-like monster with the head of an elephant. both komodo and bearded dragons, the only REAL, FACTUAL dragons by name, have 4 limbs and no wings. prescribing to one subclass relating to a broad general term as definition is so casual. also, ITS NOT REAL. so there is that.

 •
komodo and bearded dragons, the only REAL, FACTUAL dragons by name, have 4 limbs and no wings.
Those are lizards. Red pandas may have panda in their name, but are not pandas.

 • That was my point, dragons aren't real and the only real dragons are by name only. Again, though, that is not accurate. Pandas are pandas... Neither animal is bear nor raccoon, but share traits of both species. They also have skeletal traits of both species and really resemble each other, in physiology and behavior, more than they resemble a bear or raccoon. There have been tons of studies and debates about pandas over the last 100 years but no real definitive answers. Even with DNA testing, the answer is still up for debate.

 • Dood your getting all wrong this is the true cold hard (cock) facts: Comparative mythology Further information: Chaoskampf, Sea serpent, Proto-Indo-European religion § Dragon or Serpent and Serpent (Bible) The association of the serpent with a monstrous opponent overcome by a heroic deity has its roots in the mythology of the Ancient Near East, including Canaanite (Hebrew, Ugaritic), Hittite and Mesopotamian. Humbaba, the fire-breathing dragon-fanged beast first described in the Epic of Gilgamesh is sometimes described as a dragon with Gilgamesh playing the part of dragon-slayer. The legless serpent (Chaoskampf) motif entered Greek mythology and ultimately Christian mythology, although the serpent motif may already be part of prehistoric Indo-European mythology as well, based on comparative evidence of Indic and Germanic material. Saint George Killing the Dragon, 1434/35, by Martorell Although dragons occur in many legends around the world, different cultures have varying stories about monsters that have been grouped together under the dragon label. Some dragons are said to breathe fire or to be poisonous, such as in the Old English poem Beowulf.[3] They are commonly portrayed as serpentine or reptilian, hatching from eggs and possessing typically scaly or feathered bodies. They are sometimes portrayed as hoarding treasure. Some myths portray them with a row of dorsal spines. European dragons are more often winged, while Chinese dragons resemble large snakes. Dragons can have a variable number of legs: none, two, four, or more when it comes to early European literature. Dragons are often held to have major spiritual significance in various religions and cultures around the world. In many Asian cultures dragons were, and in some cultures still are, revered as representative of the primal forces of nature, religion and the universe. They are associated with wisdom—often said to be wiser than humans—and longevity. They are commonly said to possess some form of magic or other supernatural power, and are often associated with wells, rain, and rivers. In some cultures, they are also said to be capable of human speech. In some traditions dragons are said to have taught humans to talk.
