Wow. That's a dramatic decrease.
Why am I not surprised that Japan is the least religious?

I thought Japan was actually still mostly Shintoist, though. I might be wrong, but I think that means that they're sort of "spiritual" in that they honor the spirits of the dead and mix together various religious beliefs without being religious in the "PRAISE JESUS" sort of way.
-
Is that why they have so much problems?
-
what problems are you referring to?
-
Economic and social problems.
-
no, that has nothing to do with religiousness.
-
Actually, it does.. Just in the opposite way. People generally say they are more religious when the economy is poor compared to when it is in good shape... this till is not enough to offset a downward trend, but it does have a noticeable effect.
-
correlation/causation. religiousness does not have a direct effect.
-
You have it the other way around... A bad economy has an effect on religiousness. That’s not simply a correlation, there is causation in that for a number of individuals.
-
is there data to support that?
-
Editado por Vicex: 5/2/2014 9:26:21 PMI’d have to dig it up again. It was in the media a few years ago... And after a quick search, it appears Pew largely discredited these early reports.

I don't know. I doubt it.
