City might have contracts to kill Hive or Cabal of note. So if a band of Cabal are harassing Guardians supply lines and they want them found they send you to go terminate them.
Pretty sure that's what the "Bounty"shown in the vidoc in the first stages of development is. You know, your typical "Kill X of Y" type stuff. Reach had those kind of daily missions for the mulitplayer stuff. It was a good aspect.

Editado por Commander Tempu: 3/26/2014 2:28:54 AMNot sure if i made a post about this. Man that was a long time ago. I remember that ViDoc. I was thinking better than Reach. A list of contracts you can take. Just check it off. Then go do it for said reward.

Editado por Birdman: 3/26/2014 2:29:08 AMYeah, don't get me wrong, I think that Bounty aspect from long ago is a great idea because it'll keep things fresh, or give players something to do if they fly through the story. As far as the Mercenary Missions are concerned... hmm.... I don't know, only because it feels like we are Mercenaries to begin with, and since we don't know how deep the faction rabbit hole goes, we can only speculate that we're stuck in one faction or not. Still, not a bad thought.
-
This could be a not really a faction but independent way of making money with out joining a real faction, if people wanted. Oh they can be generic missions with some goals but sort of a side story that really does not relate too much if at all to the Destiny Story. It might have people you meet or know from factions but they like you and pay you to do things that might get them noticed.

I really don't think we're forced to join a faction in the game, especially when the game (this game) is about bring humanity back from the brink. I dunno, it would feel like the Mercenary work would be our basic missions to get us prepped for the story missions.
-
Well i am thinking more like options. They would be extra missions. People can do them or not and go to a faction then go back and do them for glimmer. I am sure the Mercenary Guild will take anyone as long as they are able to do the jobs listed. So it would be more like a Union. Except that clients are paying you money for jobs. You might not know who they are and the more jobs you do for a client the more they prefer you if you get it done right. These would be sub story's not really side story's. one shot to three part missions for the larger harder ones.
-
mmhmmm..... Well, until we find out how quests work in the game, you keep holding those theories. Right now, hoever, I feel like the Guild would be redundant if the game gives you similar missions, just not player-made missions (which I think sounds like where you are going with it)

Editado por Commander Tempu: 3/26/2014 9:05:47 AMSkyrim had a quest generator i see no reason why Bungie would not. They announced such. Deej said it in a Mail Sack. As to how its implemented we will see. Oh no nothing done right will be the same quests at all. Random quests with objectives that appeal to people as it will say how much and more difficult. Idea here is two fold. .1: Allows the player to get glimmer or a Fireteam for greater reward as it could be used for people who are new or who just met even old fireteams to make some cash. .2 people can list the mission in the mercenary in game data base as help might be needed as a temporary Fireteam is made. Allows people to work with others using the Jackpot methods for contracts. The person can do them alone or they can gather a fireteam do a quick mission for greater reward. The game adjusts to this making it harder or adding enemies as needed. They mention Unique missions yet who knows how that will be implemented ? So over all these would allow you to get quick cash. Just starting out or a veteran it would not matter. NPC missions with player missions listed. Mini story's that likely will be one shots. Not just a few like reach but i am thinking around a hundred a day. Who really knows ? Not really redundant its more like adding another layer to a cake with so many layers like a jello layer.
-
Alright, I see what you mean (didn't mean to sound rude saying "you hold onto your theories" Was just saying it's good to keep them in mind). You just have to realize that too many layers might turn off people. Seems like there is already a lot of layers on this game :)
-
Editado por Commander Tempu: 3/26/2014 5:34:33 PMThey have quite a few layers to this cake. The thing is not to let the layers get mixed up or to not hold there own. I think we are going to be blown away by what they have in the game allready. This would be a long term investment and It could be that mode that gives people the challenges they want at any level at any time. Being a Mercenary has its risks. You supply the guns and gear they supply the funding. Flexibility and who does not want to be Boba Fett ?
-
Right. I'm just hoping the quests have either a level indicator, or a way to increase the difficulty to earn a greater reward for being at a higher level, like Phantasy Star Online's A and S rank options to the quests.
-
True using Easy Hard Legendary Insane ect or even the Halo versions. Harder it is the more difficult and for higher levels more jackpot and if you want to add a fireteam you can to make it even harder.
-
Exactly!
