Like once you are experienced enough in the class you become a stronger higher ranked version of it?
Destiny will have this. They are called "Levels". You start as a "level 1 warlock", for example. Then, after you are experienced enough, you will become a stronger, higher ranked version, called a "level 2 warlock".
It's totally game changing.

He's talking about Prestige classes as opposed to flat leveling...
-
Prestige like CoD? I don't think so. OP specifically mentioned that this new "evolution" would be more powerful than the old one. People who prestige in CoD reset back to one, they don't actually get any better than they were before.

Hmm, those don't sound bad. It's still not quite what OP described. OP only had these prestige classes based on experience, where the ones in the article had them based on a variety of criteria. I think that's an important distinction, that changes the mechanic from a meaningless title change to a meaningful choice and reward for the player.
-
It's exactly what he was referring to.
Like for example a Warlock could evolve into a Arcanist or Spellweaver and a Hunter could evolve into a Stalker or Tracker and a Titan could evolve into a Colossus or a Tower.
He's indicating that you make a choice between several paths, it is that choice in specialization that prevents it from being a simple title change. He certainly could have elaborated more, but I cannot fault him for that, it's difficult to articulate about these sorts of Game Design mechanics sometimes.
-
You didn't have to be a dick about it. That's not even what I meant.
-
I was pointing out that the mechanic you described is meaningless in a game that already has a leveling mechanic. Sure they could change the label "warlock" to something else at various milestone levels; maybe 25, 50, 75, and 100, or something like that, but it's not like doing that would affect gameplay.
-
Then you obviously failed to comprehend the point I was trying to make. Everyone else here seems to have gotten the point but not you I guess.
-
Perhaps. Feel free to take another stab at describing it, if you feel I've misinterpreted your idea. You explicitly asked for thoughts and opinions. Don't get all butthurt when someone doesn't agree with you.
-
LOL I'm not butt hurt I was simply stating that you didn't have to be a dick about it. Which in fact you were and I'm sure others would agree with me on that. I mean your little smart ass comment at the end "it's totally game changing." Did nothing but show that your an asshole. For real bro grow up and quit being immature.
-
Where's the new explanation?
-
Wow...dude I understand that I probably worded that a little wrong but you should have enough common sense to get the point like everyone else. I'm not going to give you a whole another explanation just because you lack common sense. I would have if you weren't such a dick though.
-
Not defending your idea out of spite... that's butthurt. I'm genuinely trying to understand your idea, and how it's not just relabeling a class after a specific level. Yes, in my original reply, I did it sarcastically, not to be a dick, but because I found it funnier that way. It's called satire, and it's a pretty common illustrative technique, both on the internet and in life. If you back down every time someone pokes fun at your ideas, you're not going to get very far with them.
