Nothing wrong with bragging after you make a great play. Especially if you can get into your opponents head while you are doing it.

I think if you make a play and immediately get back to the line of scrimmage or on defense implies get ready cause I'm gonna do this all game which would get into the opponents head more than OMG LOOK AT ME IM AMAZING I CANT BELIEVE I DID THIS. *jumps around wildly swinging arms like an idiot*
-
In football, you have 30 seconds before the next play starts anyway. Nothing wrong with shawne merriman's lights out dance or jared allens sack dance. They take 5 seconds.. And for basketball, I dont see what staring at the crowd or the opponents bench is bad for. It takes 2 seconds and you can do it while getting back on D.
-
The problem is it isn't 2 seconds in basketball its like 20-30 seconds. I watch the Knicks here and players like Amare dunk and stare off in the crowd while the opponent goes on a fast break. As for the NFL its not as glaring the impact but it just makes the players look like idiots and more of a ego sport. Too much individualized bs maybe if the camera didn't pan to that person doing that crap theyd stop doing it.
-
I just dont see whats wrong with having an ego. You need one, especially in football.
-
Do you realize how long 20-30 seconds is in basketball? They aren't doing that. It's not impacting the gameplay.
-
Lol then you don't watch as many times as I do there's a reason they now have media timeouts after big dunks so that the player can jump around and stare into the crowd. I've seen it happen on multiple occasions where players are showboating and their opponent scores on the other end because its 5 on 4. It happens more than you know. 20 seconds is an exaggeration I admit
-
Media time outs are scheduled.
-
I've never seen a celebration last that long. Can you provide a video of one?
-
I don't know but here is an exaggerated one that is hilarious.
-
I've watched that half a dozen times and I can't see anything that could be interpreted as "excessive celebration"
-
You don't see a problem with the guy staring off into the crowd on a missed dunk then running into his own player afterwards because he is celebrating as opposed to playing the game? I'm not talking about it being excessive I want it gone entirely
-
I mean, that was a dumb move on his part. He should make sure he scores before celebrating. Had he actually scored, I don't see a problem with his celebration [which was maybe 2 whole seconds, at most] as it didn't effect gameplay or was any way offensive or excessive.
-
No its not excessive its just an ego thing that is pervasive in sports now. Just run back and play there arent videos of it being excessive online because its the standard now in sports. Watch the clippers and you'll see it happen more often especially blake's patented "I just dunked the ball now look at me as I walk off the court and stare into the crowd." I know the warriors have scored a couple times when he does that. Frankly more teams should try it because if they inbound the ball quick enough its an easy fast break
-
If celebrations lead to points scored by the other team, that's their own fault. If it really is such a problem, they would stop. Obviously it isn't happening as much as you think it is, or else it would be a really big deal.
-
Its not really a big deal. Its my opinion and you dont agree with it and thats fine. I wanted to see how other people feel about it and people are on both sides. I don't know why I started arguing with you because it wasn't gonna change either of our minds regardless. I view it as a problem you do not simple as that
-
Worst kind of sportsmanship possible.
-
celebrating when you make a good play is bad sportsmanship?

Editado por o0MrCheesy0o: 3/12/2013 4:53:30 PMNo, trying to ruin your opponents mental game. There's no honor in winning if you win against an opponent who wasn't playing at his current best.
-
are you kidding me? Have you ever played sports? As long as its legal, you do everything in your power to throw your opponent off their game. Whether its trash talk or showing off your dominance, if it gets in their head, its your advantage.
-
I don't even play sports and I find myself agreeing with BV. You play to win. Any mental edge you can get over your opponent is a good one. That and it's entertaining. Pro sports are very much a leisure and entertainment industry.
