Gambit was a game that had the germ of a good idea, but Bungie took shortcuts that can make for a pretty miserable experience for the solo player. (I nearly tilted this weekend when I realized to got stuck with blueberries who were just going through the motions to complete the challenges and weren’t even pretending to play to the objectives. They were just killing mobs and not making any effort to bank the motes). I think they did it because they were hoping that Gambit Prime would be the next Trials…but it didn’t pan out. The community soured on it, and Bungie sort of gave up on the game mode. It hasn’t had even a new map in 2 years.

 • Gambit (and perhaps every core activity) is at it's best when the loadouts are curated. For Crucible and Gambit in particular, each playlist should have unique armor and weapons that are useable only in those activities, or at least in the "competitive" versions of those activities.

 • Disagree. Curated loadouts eliminate the need for and impact of build crafting. The problem is that Bungie refuses to include levels of difficulty for anything other than endgame.

 • When Gambit was first revealed to streamers, their selection of gear and abilities were limited. Everyone loved Gambit. Then people got to play Gambit with their full inventories open to them. The cheapest, most broken stuff was quickly discovered, and, issues with stacked teams vs solo players notwithstanding, weapon balancing (heavy ammo in particular), and ability boss melting have been issues ever since.

 • That’s how open world pvp (after which Gambit was designed) works. It fast, nasty, and isn’t meant to be “fair” or balanced”. It’s not a contest of shooting accuracy. It’s a contest of build strength and adaptability. So anyone going in who isn’t running the fastest killing weapons and abilities have at their disposal isn’t trying to win. An Invader has 30 seconds to create as much chaos and disruption from a 1v4 DISADVANTAGE as he can. The goal isn’t served by getting into primary gunfights with people.

 • This^^^ And then I go into crucible where I'm forced to play unbroken gods with bungie emblems and double my frames, they see me before I see them, feels like I'm dying to 1 shot bcoz of the frames disparity. Or there's strikes, the same ones for 4 years, that feel like they have daily play loop of 3 random ones over and over Gradually playing less and less and looking forward to Halo and battlefield, both games I never liked
