I don't think anyone should be able to get a raid weapon of any kind without doing raids. I missed out on some weapons in previous seasons, and I have to make enough Spoils to buy them. But I still believe they need to be earned in the raids.

If the Raid in question has entered the DCV; weapons like Legend of Acrius, Terrabah, and Anarchy lose their tie to the Raid in question. Once the exotic in question does not have a Raid source, does it really matter how it is earned? I don't think so. If you can get weapons like Luna's Howl, Not Forgotten, Outbreak Perfected, and Whisper of the Worm using resources you have gathered without going into the original activities; the same should be true with the sunset exotics. Albeit, that they have the added grind of having to earn Spoils of Conquest. Hence, adding Spoils of Conquest to other activities as a possible drop.
-
That's the point of the Spoils. Despite the fact that the raid is no longer available, the weapon remains a raid weapon, and can now be earned by doing current raids.

The problem this position will cause is a lack of loot in the game to chase if you're a solo player or only have a friend or two that plays this game. With the seasonal and DLC content becoming increasingly thin, the is a risk of running out of things to work towards is very real. As I have said in this part, there is no harm in adding Spoils of Conquest as a possible drop in other activities to allow another avenue to earn exotics whose Raid have entered the DCV. Bungie did a similar thing to older Trials and Iron Banner loot in D1 by sllowing us to earn that gear via bounties alone. My idea would not be so easy.
-
My only input is that you cant be a strictly solo player and expect raid rewards, It may be tough for you but you can't expect hand outs for spoils so it can be "easier for you"
-
Also, the older Trials and Iron Banner loot that was obtainable through bounties was only obtainable through bounties IN THOSE ACTIVITIES. You had to run trials to complete the bounties. You had to do Iron Banner to complete those bounties.
-
That was not entirely the case. I was able to get several older Trials and Iron Banner weapons from a weekly Bounty handed out by Arcite that you could complete in the Crucible during Rise of Iron. The precendent for my suggestion has been used in the past and should be used again. This is one of the concepts with Bungie's idea of reissuing weapons and gear after the source they were originally available in has entered the DCV.

Then I guess we can agree to disagree. :)
-
We sure can. Thanks for the good debate over the subject.

This game has always contained loot that is not obtainable by all players. It's also been a game that is better played with others. I am an introvert, and avoid LFG altogether. But I have a few friends who play and we manage to get through raids together. Before I had these friends I didn't raid, and I didn't expect to somehow earn a raid weapon outside of the raids.
