Basically Luke Smith doesn't know wtf he's doing. He's a HORRIBLE game director. Completely incompetent. Just because he did a couple of D1 raids doesn't mean he automatically knows how to direct a franchise. He keeps messing up and saying "I realize 'we' made a mistake, that's on me, but..." Man, please demote this guy back to raids and put one of the other real directors back. Please!

Exactly. He and Unworthy destroyed Bungie.

Editado por Demon_XXVII: 6/12/2020 3:19:47 PMOh Here we go again Luke Smith DID NOT develop the raids in Destiny 1 (he was {and still is} a bloomin’ charlatan, blagging his way - no game development skills/time served creative background or technical education whatsoever (just the Scarab Scuttle & and Eng.Lit degree) The closest he cane to creating anything for D1 Raids was bringing in doughnuts & beverages for the actual dev team The man in charge (Raid Lead) of the Raids throughout the development & life of Destiny 1 was called Gavin Irby! (July 2013- March 2019 - Raid Senior Design, Lead Raid & then D2 Campaign Lead) https://uk.linkedin.com/in/gavinirby

Luke Smith reminds me of Boris Johnson. Trump < Boris < Luke < everybody else
-
Editado por Demon_XXVII: 6/13/2020 5:46:55 AMNah Boris looks a buffoon, but is Eton educated, Oxford Degree (Classics) & savvy enough to play the political game (and the ladies) Trump is smart & devious enough to gain the conservative votes to stay in power, regardless of the craziness currently in the USA/World (credit where it’s due, he got KJU to the table) Luke, well he just wants to destroy Destiny - no matter how the playerbase protest - he wants another grindy Warcraft Clone And then this APPALLING decision to remove SBMM from Crucible, just wrecked that experience too
-
Editado por fakkelbrigade: 6/13/2020 3:01:44 PMYeah and he sadly left like every other talented dev or lead: Joe Blackburn, Jill Scharr, Jon Weisnewski, and Josh Hamrick. Joe Blackburn former raid lead. Jill Schar narrative lead (Forsaken Story). Jon Weisnewski Weapons specialist. Josh Hamrick Sandbox design.

TTK was Lukes one hit, it was his idea and it saved D1 at the time but I don't think he should of got Game Director out of it. He wasn't lead on everything to do with it but it was him behind the while TTK expansion. But even this fan boy said to fire his ass the day I turned on D2 beta
-
TTK was Lukes one hit, it was his idea and it saved D1
False, TTK had concept art way before the WoW worked on it, and then there is Staten's work. But the most important thing you left out? The WoW guy was pulled from TTK to go work on this game partway through TTK being developed. The WoW guy did not save the first game, he only took credit for work that was laid out for him.
-
Well I'm telling ya, the stuff might have been laid out but whatever he came in to do did change what was already laid out and made things better. Has he made them better since, no but then he did. I saw the interview with him and others at bungie about this and it was an interview done back before I even started playing when I was looking into this game. I don't care even about it but what he did for TTK made it what it is now. He did save Destiny back then, he did -blam!- up begining of D2 by putting a new number in box and restating everything but just because he -blam!-ed that up does not mean he gets TTK taken from him. Except now unless the future is great then he needs to step away.
-
Nope, and it doesn't matter how many times you say it. He was only a journalist back then, literally nothing else that everyone knows this and even the links that are facts says you're 100% incorrect.
-
Yes I know he was a journalist until he was pulled in on TTK with what he submitted. He was not the full brains or the only one on it but that expansion hot him in and he actually moved around a lot before then. I will find the interview and article and other proof that he was a part of TTK and saved what they had already started

Editado por Yosemite Sam: 6/13/2020 9:41:07 PM
Yes I know he was a journalist until he was pulled in on TTK with what he submitted.
Edit: He was also pulled off the Ttk partway through it. Why are you leaving that out? And then came this base game that was a major flop. I think you believe in something that is hearsay and hearsay doesn't work. Actions will always show the truth and his work with this game has been crap. It was Activision and the other studies that save him from literally destroying this game and that is all I need to know with these cheap lazy throwaway seasons that is also his work. Not Ttk, let alone he took credit for VoG and he wasn't even the lead for the raid.
-
I love how y'all that are in here putting bungie down for doing this or that but yet log on n everyday cause u know it's one of the best games out there and there isn't anything like it. Also the same people that complained activision was ruining the game and when bungie left there and now doing their own thing the same people complain. And the same people used to complain about content drought but now they give us new stuff every three months for 10 dollars or less, depending on how u buy it, and y'all complain. If you or anyone else can do better then go apply at bungie because they do have job listings, and make it better. And what I know about Luke Smith and TTK is not hearsay because I watched the interview with him and the journalist talking to each other. And if what he was telling us in that interview was lies then I'm sure someone would of called him out on it, and I mean someone besides a person sitting behind a screen that has nothing to do with it except playing. And VoG was also alot of him as well. Just because someone isn't the lead on something doesn't mean they didn't have a part of it or come up with an idea and then let someone take over. He did ruin Destiny 3 years ago like I said before by restarting the game. Now he seems to know that was a mistake because they are not going that way again. They are gonna build on what we have. And I also agree with vaulting content that we been playing for three years that have no more relevance and sunsetting so more new or reprised stuff can come into the game.

Editado por Demon_XXVII: 6/12/2020 4:07:51 PMNo It wasn’t TTK was already part of the Destiny universe Created by Destiny creator/writer Joe Staten & Art Director Chris Barrett let’s just leave this here Luke Smith was writing podcasts for Kotaku & blogs Whilst Joe Staten was a lead writer creating HALO & Destiny franchises Now, Luke Smith is destroying Destiny (trying time create a bloomin Skinner box mmo) Whilst Joe Staten is Senior Creative Director of Xbox Game Studios https://mobile.twitter.com/joestaten https://www.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-game-studios So Who do you think the actual talent is?
-
Luke wrote for Kotaku? That explains everything.
-
No I read a big article back then all about Luke because they were doing it due to the success of the Taken King. Maybe it was already there and yes I know what he was doing prior to this but whatever he took to the table about TTK got him in and now he is where he is. And I even said it was his one hit the wonder moment but now he his Director and as soon as I played D2 beta I said he could be fired for destroying our tower. I'll find the interview/article and post
-
He should get credit for story and raid development but the in game economy is a dumpster fire. Dude knows storytelling but not behavioral economics - which is critical when your product is all about sustained customer engagement.
-
Editado por Demon_XXVII: 6/13/2020 5:51:07 AMThe narrative is bloody garbage They’re already destroying the ‘set in stone’ lore And then on top of that, the grammatical errors & crazily titled mods (just today, a Chest mod that says it’s only applicable on Arms 🙇🏻🤦🏻🤯)
-
"dude knows storytelling" LMFAO
-
I mean, the lore’s pretty good. The story telling in game is accidentally funny.
-
See my comment above
-
Point taken, but he did work on the raid team. The raids are a plus - trying to be fair and charitable.
-
I have been saying this for a long time now, Luke smith has had his go and failed, how many CEO's of any industry have said "this is not the product we wanted" or "this was a mistake" as often as him and survived to continue making mistakes. This game has so much potential and it deserves someone who wont and doesnt make mistakes. I wouldn't like anyone to lose there job, just move them in the job they are capable of doing.
-
Completely agree with all that. Luke might be good at some specific design aspects - heck he might even excel at them - but that doesn't necessarily translate to being a great game director. And in his case... it DEFINITELY doesn't translate. I'm also not sure how often they can safe this franchise. They had to bring it back at least 2 times basically from the brink of death. Do they really wanna find out how often they can make that magic happen? What if they need another Taken King or Forsaken, but then can't deliver? Maybe it's just me, but at some point I'd worry my luck could run out.
-
its just this - think about it. he admits d2 was a mistake 'they took a year to recover from' meaning forsaken i suppose was the fix. now they appear to be making that mistake AGAIN. making players start over again except for the supers and abilities EVERY SEASON not just for a sequel game. same mistake. same result. but every 3 months. hes invented a 3 month repeatable bounty - er i mean mistake.
