Sorry, Aifos, but if I start getting into these games, this post wont end, so I'll throw a word or two in if I feel like it and you can ask me any questions about ones that catch your eye.
Aventuria
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ulissesspiele/aventuria-inn-of-the-black-boar-0/description
(second edition)
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/190400/aventuria-adventure-card-game
(first edition)
I don't recommend buying the first edition as it seems to have a few issues with localisation, and generally being an awkward buy - that said, the game itself was apparently fantastic!
When the Kickstarter came up for the 2nd edition I had to snag it. It should hit retail within a month or two if you don't mind waiting.
Good to read that BGG link to get an idea of what it's about, though.
Grimslingers
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/173018/grimslingers
I think i like this one more for the theme and artwork. It's a solid game with a decent campaign and some decent gameplay, but the mechanics and the rulebook are a little tricky to navigate. Well worth the price, though.
Warhammer Quest
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/181521/warhammer-quest-adventure-card-game
No Warhammer knowledge necessary.
This is widely considered one of the best adventure card games out there. Fun campaign, decent mechanics, and enjoyable gameplay. Just a shame there wont be anymore content for it.
Arkham Horror
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/205637/arkham-horror-card-game
Another well recieved adventure card game. This time focusing a bit more around exploration, mystery, problem solving, and fighting some spookies!
A really solid game with great story development, character decks and some solid expansions.
One Deck Dungeon
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/179275/one-deck-dungeon
Or maybe you want to walk forward and hit stuff and get better gear to hit more stuff harder until there's nothing left to hit.
One Deck Dungeon might not be as extravagant as the other games here, but it absolutely fits its purpose as an easy-to-play dungeon crawler.
It doesn't come to the table much, and I mainly play it on train journeys or when my group just wants to kill 20 minutes until the others arrive or whatever, but I'm absolutely happy with my purchase here!
Aeon's End
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/191189/aeons-end
A deckbuilding tower defense/hoard mode game. There's some cool character development here, good artwork, fun baddies, and enjoyable gameplay.
Mistfall
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/168274/mistfall
Now Mistfall...
Mistfall I do and don't recommend. it's a big game, and a very challenging one. I encourage you to do some exploring with Mistfall because I really enjoyed it, but it is a heavy game - definitely something to think about if you don't play card games often.
Onirim
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/156336/onirim-second-edition
Never played Onirim myself, but I've heard excellent things. Make sure you go for the second edition when looking around.
I love the Games Workshop Warhsmmer Fantasy/Quest world The Old(e) World(e) and was pretty bummed that FFG lost the license to produce content using that ip. But, if you like the mechanics, yiu can play Heroes of Terrinoth. It's the same game, but set in FFG's own world of Descent & Runebound fame. For players deciding between the two, I'd buy Heroes since there's a possibility for additional content. And, although it's not a card game...I recommend Gloomhaven to slmost everyone.

Editado por Psyntifik: 7/23/2019 12:22:34 AMI totally forgot about that game! Good shout. My next adventure card game will be Aventuria when the KS arrives, though. Gloomhaven is good, but I'd rather play something like Middara or Too Many Bones.

Could you provide an example of how a normal turn would look in each?

Editado por Psyntifik: 7/22/2019 1:44:26 PMDuuuuuuuuude! I had this all typed out up to Aeons End then refreshed the page by mistake and lost it all :( I'm just gonna throw some links up for you now because I don't have the energy or the time to type this all back up :P Grimslingers https://youtu.be/IgXUHlNeDHA?t=1886 This should have started from the campaign if I linked it right. Just one thing to note, this is with The New Territory expansion. The base game doesn't have this cool map deck to explore, none of the significantly more interesting characters, and it has less of the cool mechanics. If you're gonna buy this game, I strongly suggest you get The New Territory with it. If you do get the expansion, I'd recommend all of these games equally. If you don't have the budget for it, then i'd choose one of the other three over Grimslingers. Arkham Horror https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WA16gyRZyY I edited this part out and replaced it with a review from Shut up & Sit Down. These guys are my go-to when II'm looking into what game to buy, or just browsing board game stuff in general. Very easy to watch. I'd strongly suggest you check them out whenever you can. One Deck Dungeon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTe7NAcK0qQ 5 minutes is all you need to explain this game. It's a heap of fun. Like I said, I usually play this on train journeys, and I've taken my character into multiple dungeons with every journey and just keep adding to his stats to make him as strong as he can possibly be. Aeons End https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2j47I0TqFQ Again, a bit extensive, but Rahdo is a great watch if you're weighing up buying a game or not. I'd choose Grimslingers or Arkham if you want something with a memorable story, and One Deck or Aeons if you just want something fun to play every now and then. What turned you off about Warhammer Quest out of interest?

So from the videos I’m gonna say probably either Aeon’s End or One Deck Dungeon, since I want something more to just pick up & play every now and then. ODD wasn’t explained too well, though. Could you clarify it a bit more?

Editado por Psyntifik: 7/23/2019 12:25:55 AM
ODD wasn’t explained too well, though. Could you clarify it a bit more?
What's tripping you up exactly? The game will start with you choosing a character, a dungeon, and setting up the play area. Dungeons are made up of 3 floors, each floor containing a deck of ~50 cards. When the deck empties, you move to the next floor. Whenever "Time" pops up (at the start of the round and sometimes room effects) you will discard some of the floor deck, forcing you to move into the next floor eventually. Cards are also room encounters, and will be discarded when resolved. You have two actions. Explore or Encounter. Explore is pretty straight forward, you will flip one of the four room cards infront of you and you can then encounter it. Encountering a room will start the process of resolving it. In the event the encounter is a fight, you will take the number of dice indicated on your character, roll them and try to match the numbers and colour combinations on the Room with those you rolled - any left over will trigger consequences (these vary from room to room). On success of the room, you will be able to do a couple of things, one of which will be to loot it, this will add to your dice pool when you encounter future rooms.

Nothing was really confusing me, the video just didn’t leave me with a solid idea of the game. Thanks for the info! I think between that one and Sidequest (which someone else recommended) Sidequest seems more fun. That still leaves Aeon’s End, though.. Maybe I’ll see if I have enough monies for both!

Editado por Psyntifik: 7/23/2019 10:11:15 AMhttps://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/198832/legends-untold-weeping-caves-novice-set I totally forgot about this game! My brother was waiting for the Kickstarter for so long that I forgot it had come out and we'd had a game. A pretty tough dungeon crawl in which you play as a group of nobodies going on adventures. There's some cool skill checks, and enemies to fight as you lay down the dungeon cards at the connecting points and move through. It's a fun game, and the hardships and perils your characters face make for a fun story. I can tell you a little more about it I think, but my brother owns it and I've only played his copy at the start of the year.

Sounds like more of a board game. :o
-
Sounds like more of a board game. :o
Nah, definitely not. It's all in cards. Watch a quick gameplay video or something and see what you rate.
-
Got one you’d recommend?
-
Got one you’d recommend?
https://youtu.be/u048ctauFCo Short preview at a Con just so you can have a look at the artwork, and get a quick feel for how it will play out. https://youtu.be/FQrC0CcmzZA 30 minutes of how the systems work and how you interact with the game. If you do go for this, I'd recommend playing 2 or 3 characters when you get more comfortable. There's a cool focus on hero interaction that makes adventuring with a full party really fun.
-
Hm.. I think Aeon’s End is still the one that looks the most fun out of these!
-
A solid choice. I thought you might have gone for Arkham Horror with it being Eldritch.
-
I like the aesthetic a lot, but it’s not the type of game I was going for. Not really looking for an adventure, but something to play every now & then when I get the urge to play a card game.
-
Fair fair. Let me know what you finally land on.
-
Side Quest is cool. A little too "push your luck" for me, but I enjoyed it enough to buy a copy after playing a friend's... Except its so hard to buy over here. https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/77423/lord-rings-card-game The LOTR card game is also pretty well received.
-
What do you mean by “push your luck”?
-
What do you mean by “push your luck”?
Where you keep repeating the same action for a little gain with less and less chance of success each time. Failure means losing it all. Just not for me.
-
Ah, I see.

Darn, no time to watch videos right now. Could you remind me to watch them in a bit? Nothing in particular. It just didn’t really catch my eye.
