There is match making for comp that only lets you verse others of similar skill level, I think its within 1000 rating, so I don't know what you're talking about?

Look if you don't believe that your competitive rank correlates to your skill once you've played enough games then that's your own delusion to deal with.

What? If I have a 1.7 kda I should be playing other with 1.7 kda. That's skill based. If I'm Fabled 3 and another guy is Fabled 3 but that guy has a 2.7 kda that's not skill based. It's pretty simple.

You won't be versing that fabled 3 guy much longer because hes going to rank up and you won't. Does that make sense to you? That's why I said "once you've played enough games"

You'll be facing that guy again as soon as you rank up again. It's not skill based it's ranked based. It's also not one on one, if I'm carrying a weak player and a stronger player is carrying me our skills are not equal but our rank is. The game needs pure sbmm so the serious PvP players can play with each other. I'll say that comp matches are better since they went to ranked based but it's still not as competitive as sbmm would make it.

You're creating very particular situations, in the broader picture if you are worse than someone else they will get to a higher rank than you if that skill gap is large enough. You aren't going to be catching this 2.7KD players rank unless as you said you decide to play with someone carrying you.

I'm pretty sure when I'm heroic I'll be playing many players with higher skill than me. I'm sure on my climb I've played many players that I've been better than. This isn't a specific situation this is how Destiny works. There is zero matchmaking based on skill.
