This is just my opinion but I'd suggest new players to the Destiny universe should try D1. It's still the superior game, especially among the day 1 brigade. The franchise moved backwards with D2. CoO was an embarrassment and the low point in Destinys history.

This is pure sentimentality. D1 had a different feel for sure, grittier and more concrete, but it was a disjointed, unfocused, product with no identity. As the updates and changes came along it became more of its own thing—especially after Taken King. But the original campaign was only incidentally coherent since it was stitched together from fragments of a storyline that had been scrapped sometime in development. It’s something of a small miracle that Bungie and its community have been able to piece together a story from the scattered lore from those old days. Tl;dr, don’t make more of Destiny 1 than it was. It was pretty good but people were screaming about no content one month from launch then, too. What made me quit Destiny for several months was disgust at the shallow excuse of an expansion that The Dark Below was.

No it's my opinion, didn't you read my post?
It's still the superior game, especially among the day 1 brigade.
When you say things like the quoted section above, you are no longer expressing your own opinion and are trying to speak for others as well. And I would agree with the flying walrus. People view D1 with rose-coloured glasses. This forum has been a salt-mine since day one. People just complain about different things now.
-
Pretty much every D1 vet I game with agrees D1 is better than the sequel. Are we all wrong?
-
I'm not saying you are wrong. We simply disagree. But you can't say shit like "This group of people feel this way" and then attempt to defend your statement with "It's my opinion" when someone opposes you.
-
It is my opinion that D1 is better than D2.
-
Yes, you've made that abundantly clear. But "you" and "D1 brigade" are two different things.
-
Not when it comes to which is the better game 😏
-
I've been here since the D1 beta and I disagree.
-
Then explain why after 3 weeks since launch, the vast majority of the D2 player base ceased playing. Were they all wrong as well 🤣🤣
-
Same thing happened in D1, which you are either conveniently ignoring or have forgotten about in your nostalgic haze.
-
Nowhere near the plunge that D2 experienced. This forum is littered with players that dumped D2 around the 1 month mark.
-
Nah, d1 was better.
-
I feel warming was worse than coo but no ones ever going to forget two tokens a blue.
-
I thought Warmind was worth the money purely for Escalation protocol. That shotgun 😀
-
Don't get me wrong ep is fun when you have a team just the way it was put in was poor if it was like court of Oryx or archons forge it would of been slightly better
-
Oh god no it's not...not even close to being a fan favorite. It's only sentiment, not substance.
-
If I was a new Destiny player I'd be playing D1 first. But in a way you're right, since D1 isn't the current game its not being updated and has less players. But even now, at the very least, it can stand toe to toe with D2 due to it's superior weapons, class abilities, and strikes & raids design.
-
I guess that's why most of the D2 launch base departed just 3 weeks after launch. The vast majority, haven't returned.
-
I’m going back to D1 tomorrow, I’ve got the most out of what I pre-ordered and I’m waiting to see what the feedback is on Forsaken before I decide whether to buy it or not. But I agree, D1 is still the superior game, I hope Forsaken changes that but I’m cautious now. Bungie made me that way.
-
Thats biased as hell.. if new players go back they will get the fixed Destiny 1. Not the broken ass game it was for a year and a half. Memories fade and people tend to forget how jacked up D1 was for a long time.
-
Editado por Fishyb: 9/4/2018 1:02:40 PMYep. D1 ended up a fantastic game in the end. However, all the day 1 players will remember one of the worst grinds to upgrade weapons and armour that gaming in general could throw at you. How may of us had preferred routes for grinding relic iron on mars? Was ridiculous. Not enough shards in your weekly VoG run to upgrade your raid armour? Tough wait till next week. The game only really settled with Rise of Iron in its overall fairness and really getting everything right.

I agree CoO was not a good DLC and that Destiny 1 was/is a great game. I wouldn't call it "superior" to D2, but it's a subjective discussion. As far as which was better day 1, it always astonishes me how people forget the mess that D1 was at launch.

I probably should have mentioned that I solo'd D1 and DLC, never did crucible or joined a clan back then, but came back for D2 when the priced dropped about 2 months ago because Forsaken looks like a lot of fun! D1 had a lot going for it, and it's definitely worth picking up for someone new to the game, especially at it's bargain-basement price now!
