Shiro is the only one qualified to take over. If he doesn't do it, then who knows?

He's not only the most qualified but most likely the only hunter to take the vanguard dare (a tradition that hunter's keep to see who becames the next vanguard).

Being his friend and maybe his pupil makes him the most qualified? That makes no sense. His only actual accomplishment is being a Hunter that has appeared in the game before. Any one character can be more qualified literally with the strike of a pen.

Shiro-4 is one of the Vanguards most talented scouts, and has single handedly taken out large Fallen crews all across earth. He mainly targeted the house of kings and has been renowned for his skill on the field. Shiro-4 is the most logical option for hunter vanguard

Dude.. I'm just saying my theory and the facts that support it. It's not that Cayde doesn't know other hunter's, it's that Cayde and Shiro have a very close relationship (just like Andel Brask and Cayde) it makes sense lore wise

No, you're stating your opinion as a fact. You said he may have been his pupil, then he was. It's not a fact that he's the most qualified. That in itself is an opinion without listing a criteria first. The only facts you've listed are that he's cayde's friend and killed some fallen once. If that's all it takes to be the most qualified then the rest of the hunters must really suck. It may make sense lore-wise, but it's not the only story that does. Did cayde give him this date before fighting Gaul? I think a more compelling story is that a Hunter betrayed him to uldren and we have to find out who before awarding the vanguard position to anyone. Why was he out on the reef all by himself anyway?

So when I come up with a theory based in logic I'm a fan boy. But when you create an entire scenario that probably didn't happen you aren't? Shiro-4 was always Cayde's pupil, you can find that out in the grimoire. Yes, Cayde most likely made the dare with Shiro before Gual showed up, but as of now we don't know if Shiro accepted the dare. Replacing the Hunter vanguard isn't as easy as replacing the other classes, it's a thing of honor taken up by a student bound by the promise (or dare) that they made with their master, not a random Hunter that gets elected to the position

I don't read the grimoire. I literally don't care about the lore at all. You said he may have been his pupil a few posts up. This is a forum for discussion. It just annoys me when people like you shut down the discussion with your version of facts. I'm beginning to hope the red legion killed shiro. He was pretty useless as a character anyway.

This is a forum for people who want to share, learn, and discuss the lore of Destiny. I'm discussing and sharing my theory while supporting it with evidence found in the games story, exactly what this forum is for. If you're not here to do this, then you shouldn't engage in an argument you know nothing about. You say I shut down discussions? Take a good long look in the mirror buddy
