sorry but this is without a doubt the result of the PVP crowd constantly whinning for nerfs. you may not be happy to hear that but it's the truth. this is the game the PVP crowd wanted and they just didn't think of the effect it would cause

 • You meant to say PVE players who jumped into PvP and got their asses handed to them asked for this...

 • Nope. He said it correctly. Pve players don’t care about pvp, and aren’t going to ask for nerfs. Because you aren’t going to ask for a weapon you might use to be made weaker.

 • Lmao you best believe that PVE player is the problem. Kinda goes something like this. 1: Finishes (insert activity here) to get (insert weapon here). 2. Plays PVE and thinks the loadout is badass. 3. Loads up a crucible match. 4. Proceeds to get completely f*cking annihilated. 5. Checks opponents loadout and remembers weapon. 6. Dies to weapon again and goes ballistic. 7. Fails to realize some weapons perform better in PVE than PVP. 8. Rages and blames the weapon instead of every single mistake done in game and lack of skill. 9. Tell friends that weapon is broken. 10. Friends also play PVE so they also suck at PvP. 11. Friends get stomped. 12. They all rage.
BTW all these points are happening under multiple shitty PVE guys playing PvP. Which remember you guys are majority.
13. One of them makes a post calling for a nerf. 14. Every other salty PVE player agrees. 15. Weapon gets nerfed. 16. PVE Guy then blames PvP for it. Rinse and repeat for all of D1 and here we have D2.

 • Intersting FAIRY TALE...but that's all that it is. Here's reality. 1. PVE players in Destiny are largely RPG gamers....not shooter gamers. So they: a. Don't give a shit about PVP, because that's not why they play games. b. Don't base their self-worth on how good they are at shooting at other players. Those players you see that are suiciding or going AFK in the Crucible? THOSE are PVE players, going through the motions of PVP because some bounty or other loot item they want is FORCING THEM TO PLAY. c. Don't call for nerfs because they will make them weaker in PVE play...which IS why they play games. 2. The people whine and cry for nerfs are PVP players who My Name is Byf likes to call "Fish". a. They are PVP players who are over-invested in PVP, and base their own (and other people's) worth on who successful they are at it. b. They don't have the ego strength to accept that failure in competition means that they got legitimately outplayed. They can't stand (in their warped perception) the SHAME of it. So. c. They have to find something EXTERNAL to themselves to blame for it. SO THEY EITHER BLAME GEAR...AND CRY FOR NERFS.....OR THEY BLAME "CRUTCH" OR "CHEAP" TACTICS. Demanding that they be removed from the game, rather than adapting and getting better. All it takes is a casual glance at the Destiny community to see the abundance of FISH on the PVP side of the game. For most of Destiny 1s life you couldn't swing a dead CAT on YouTube or Twitch without HITTING some PVP-oriented streamer or video creator who would start WHINING for nerfs the moment he (or she) ran into something that frustrated them. Or allowed people whom they considered "unskilled" to compete with them. It got so bad at one point that I couldn't watch an episode of with the Orginal Planet Destiny hosts (now Destiny Community Podcast) ....all of whom are PVP-oriented streamers....and NOT hear one of them go on a RANT about something in the game that HAD to be nerfed. At various times they ranted on about. 1. Thorn. '2. Shotguns. 3. Self-rezzing Warlocks. 4. Firebolt Grenades. 5. Thunderstrike 6. Stormcaller Warlocks. 7. Skill-based Matchmaking (They and their drones started a -blam!-ing Eververse style riot over this.) ...and on down the line. The reason? Simple. These people ran BUSINESSES that depended on them looking dominant in PVP. So they systematically complained about, and used their public platform to pressure Bungie into removing those things from the game that either made them look less dominant (by matching them against players of their own skill level).... ...or allowed players with less "gun skill" to compete with them in the BATTLE ARENA that was Destiny 1's Crucible. What pisses me off is that these jerks demanded that these changes be made to to the game......get forced on PVE because of the unified sandbox...and then had the nerve to join the chorus of complaints about the changes THEY demanded. Then up and left once the interest in watching Destiny's PVP being streamed evaporated.
sorry but this is without a doubt the result of the PVP crowd constantly whinning for nerfs. you may not be happy to hear that but it's the truth. this is the game the PVP crowd wanted and they just didn't think of the effect it would cause
I play PvP almost exclusively. I didn’t ask for 4v4. I didn’t ask for private matches to be removed. I didn’t ask them to buff shotguns separately in PvE (but I’m glad they did). Which leads me to wonder why there are not separate balances for everything in each mode. I didn’t ask them to remove choice of strikes in PvE or mode in PvP. I didn’t ask for tokens. I didn’t ask them to remove cool lore sources like dead ghosts or the Books of Sorrow. I didn’t ask for activity-specific loot to be removed. I didn’t ask for timers. I didn’t ask for simplified skill trees. I didn’t ask for exotics to be given out like Halloween candy. I didn’t ask for removing random weapon rolls. I didn’t ask to remove hidden weapon quests. I didn’t ask for slow charging supers and grenades. I didn’t ask them to remove Sunsingers. I didn’t ask for more Eververse. I didn’t ask them to put out expansions/DLC that were not as good as the ones in D1. I didn’t ask them to remove the sparrow races (SRL). I didn’t ask them to remove the Grimoire. I didn’t ask for my characters to remain mute. I didn’t ask them to stop people from buying power ammo. I didn’t ask for bland exotics. I didn’t ask for the D1 lore to be retconned. I didn’t ask for PoE to be removed. I didn’t ask to have power fantasy weapons like Gjallarhorn or machine guns to be removed completely. I didn’t ask for Archon’s Forge to be removed. I didn’t ask for the current “two primary” system (although I do like it). I didn’t ask for them to remove whole planets and The Reef from the game. I didn’t ask for the PvE community to be hurt, compromised or ignored. And all of the above were not asked for by the PvP community. I did ask that Thorn be reigned in and that shotguns be better balanced in PvP. There were a fair number of the PvP crowd that did. I did ask for a better, more coherent story. There were a fair number of the PvP crowd who did too. D2 is most definitely not the game I demanded or expected, so please be careful about who you blame for the current game.

 • You didn’t. But you got outvoted by the people who did. Shit, the sandbox right now is almost pathologically bland and balanced, but there are daily posts demanding that Uriel’s Gift and The Colony be nerfed.

Uriel’s Gift? Meh. It can be countered by other auto rifles. My Jiangshi AR4 is way more stable. Origin Story, Ghost Primus? Positive Outlook? The Colony is a perfectly good exotic.

 • The stuff you’re talking about is a list of straw men that aren’t the game’s real problems. The game’s real problems are the result of Bungie stripping out the game’s RPG elements in an effort to make the Crucible “balanced and competitive”. Due to the unified sandbox and the Halo-like pvp experience pvp players spent 3 years clamoring for. Those changes broke pve, and revealed pvp to be the mediocre shooter it always was without those same RPG elements. And if I need to give you names and links, then you just haven’t been paying attention to streamers, YouTubers, or even the typical posts on this forum. Even as bland and underpowered as the game currently is you still have people coming here everyday demanding that whatever is currently frustrating them in pvp get nerfed. Every. -blam!-ing. Day.

 • Well, lots of what you described are RPG elements that were chopped out or reduced. A lot of the stuff I mentioned are RPG elements and the point is I and other PvP guys didn’t ask for that stuff. I sure as hell didn’t ask for 4v4 PvP. Should I blame that on you PvE guys? Bungie changed that stuff on their own.

 • You didn’t. But many pvp guys who were “Sweaties” did. Four v Four is the preferred format of e-sport pvp in shooter games. Bungie didn’t just pull that format out of their ass. Part of the community wanted it. I’m also sure Activision wanted it too. (MLG is owned by Activision)

I do remember people asking for more than 6v6, though. The e-sport guys left D1 pretty fast. I stayed as did lots of us. We weren’t asking for 4v4, though.
