Dear PvP crowd: Your way sucks, we want our game back

Before you get salty, know that your feelings don’t matter, I’m right, and the proof is in the miserably low daily log ins. Remember when this game was PvE oriented? We didn’t have balance, we had broken set ups
fun
We had shot guns and snipers in the special slot, and machine guns
fun
We had the vault
fun
We had millions of daily log ins.
Less than a third of which were PvP players
PvP players were always the minority, but they pissed and moaned and got their way.
made the game boring
The PvE crowd didn’t stick around and roll with the terrible terrible changes like bungie anticipated, they just left. Now the daily log ins are less than 800k. Screw PvP, make this game PvE oriented like it was meant to be, and maybe, just maybe you’ll get those millions of players back. PvE carried D1 on its shoulders, you screwed with the bread and butter crowd. Now you have nothing. Give us our game back, PvP’s feedback was all garbage. Edit: WE’VE WOKEN THE HIVE! Good. Ima be straight with you, I posted this in this ridiculous inflammatory format to get it trending in hopes we’d spark some real conversations. We need to fight this out. Of course I maintain my position, but I’ll stop getting short with people in the comments, regardless of how rude they may be. You -blam!- or something? It's not the PVP crowd that wanted this what's happening now. It's them filthy casuals who can't get gud. Bungie made the game for them. Not for the hardcore who wanted build variety and high skill ceiling. If everyone has acces to anything, the game in other words, is balanced. It's filthy casuals that can't get kills in crucible or win a trials game that wine about nerfs. Peace (and get gud)

      • pretty much EVERYTHING you said is dead wrong. and by the way the most PISSED OFF PEOPLE about no more shotguns and snipers in special slot ARE EXCLUSIVELY PVP players. you can easily live in pve without that. In pvp it really degrades the play. pretty much anything at all you use in pve works. doesnt matter what it is. raiding etc. doesnt matter. in pvp gun selection MATTERS. grow up

          • sorry but this is without a doubt the result of the PVP crowd constantly whinning for nerfs. you may not be happy to hear that but it's the truth. this is the game the PVP crowd wanted and they just didn't think of the effect it would cause

PvP wasn't the problem the nerf cryers in D1 was the ones who started this trend

                • Uninstalled last night. Couldn't play anymore Control. I like FPS for the multiplayer challenge. But I prefer just good old fashioned deathmatch. So hopefully the game goes better for the PvE folks who enjoy it. I think my mistake was trying to play Destiny 2 like CoD which is multiplayer first and foremost, everything else be damned. I enjoyed some of my time playing Destiny 2 but hopefully this lets me play other games now that this one is off the list. I know you guys are super enthusiastic and dedicated to the game so hopefully Bungie does you guys right finally. I think they managed to alienate PvP AND PvE people alike so far. That's what's really attributing to the low numbers. As for some people saying it's the casual players' fault. It's not their fault if Bungie is catering to them without being asked. There are hard games casual people love and they acknowledge others are just damn good at them and better. But that makes them want to try to play like the better players. Destiny 2 fails by giving casual players the same gimmicky moves and cheap tactics good players enjoy. Now everyone is a shotgun slide champ. Who's the expert? There's much more to this of course but blaming any one group is a crutch (I know you Destiny guys love that word).

You can't clump the whole "PvP crowd" all together. I started off as a PvE'er, but around the time of TDB, I found that I enjoyed PvP a lot. From then on, all of my log-ins, were almost all to jump into the Crucible. But with each and every nerf that came out, and every time I saw someone complain about a weapon being "OP", I just thought, "This is the dumbest sh!t ever." But any time you speak out against it, you're met with, "You're just trash. You just wanna keep using your crutch." Uhhh... Ok, yes, I did use a few of those things, but they can't all be my "crutch". Heck, I didn't even use firebolts (I played Control a lot, and found solar grenades much more useful). I was a shotgun guy, so I guess maybe they could've been a crutch?? But I would've used them, even if they weren't as strong, because they suited my play-style. But, I was still pretty vocal against the sniper nerfs (even though I didn't use them, and got killed by them regularly), but snipers were still my "crutch", according to those that I argued against. I felt like I had to put an asterisk next to each kill, or win, I got against players using those nerfed weapons, and abilities, because I felt like, "They may have beaten me there, had their sniper, grenade, or whatever they're using, not been nerfed." Also, it just felt like we all slowly kept getting weaker and weaker. And I didn't like any of the changes going into D2... 4v4, double primary, etc. So, not all PvP'ers can be clumped together. Some of us just enjoyed the game as it was, and didn't give a crap, whether or not, it was "balanced" the same as other games that were considered "competitive". In my opinion, "competitive" can be anywhere two or more people congregate to compete against each other.

I'm a PvE player all the way, and I sympathize with the argument, but if I've learned anything this year it's that words matter, and the way they are said also matters.

                  • quick question. how many pvp players have you ever seen say "I want x gun nerfed and for that nerf to be in pve also cos they should suffer too". yeah its about zero. theres this funny thing where you can balance guns one way in pvp and another in pve. like pve getting a shotgun buff after pvp got a nerf. its not the pvp players fault. its bungie unwillingness to balance both indepenant of each other. until they do that either pve players get weak guns or pvp has no balance. personally as a pvp player I'd prefer a year 1 style balance where everything is powerful. more fun and chaotic and pve is allowed to remain amazing also.

                    • You've got an interesting take on things, but this sounds like more of that revisionist history that is flooding the forums. It's true Destiny was supposed to be a PVE oriented game, but that never happened due to the reboot, which resulted in massive amounts of content being cut from the base game so that Bungie could meet its requirement to provide two DLC's to Activision. They've been trying to play catch-up ever since. What was supposed to be a nice to have add-on suddenly found itself in the spotlight due to the lack of content. PVE took on a life of its own and Bungie noticed that people were quite happy with this mode of gameplay and the fact that is was a lot cheaper to produce content for. Yes, it's true that the PVP crowd has been responsible for many of the woes that plague the franchise, but never once believe that we ever were close to being the PVE game that we were promised way back when.

                    • I’ll leave 3 easy points as a response... 1: PvP keeps games alive. PvE players don’t... 2. This game was made for casuals not PvP. The PvP community isn’t happy and frankly is tired of shitty pvp players trying to act like we wanted this... 3. 99% of people that hate PvP are complete trash at it. Of course you guys aren’t going to like getting stomped out 24/7. But it isn’t my fault you guys don’t have thumbs and want easy OHK weapons to camp with. That’s not fun.
Please. This doesn’t form any decent argument about actual game flaws. This is just a salty PVE players trying to blame PvP instead of the developer. We get it. You suck at PvP. That doesn’t mean it’s pvp’s fault...
I also love how PvP players are stuck with only 2 playlists and no ranked system or anything worth staying for while PvE players get all the new content, and yet they still complain like they're the one's being treated unfairly. But, ya know. Whatever floats your boat.

                        • Honestly, the entire behavior of the game has walked several miles in the wrong direction since the original Destiny. It really took a couple years until that iteration of the game began to pull together and feel really good. Unfortunately, for those players who took the ride and got to the end of it feeling like the game was what it needed to be, D2 has felt flat on almost every note since it's release. Slow movement, slow recharge, under-powered grenades, bland exotics ( which should be such an oxymoron ) bland legendaries. I mean if D1 was vanilla then this tastes like eating paper. But, do you blame one side of the game for the lack of spice when even the most solid PvP players and saying the same thing. No, it's a lack of initiative and imagination driven by a hot rush to package and sell a game while minimizing production costs and maximizing profits that has corrupted a gamescape that has so much untapped potential. They chose not to build on the foundation they had finally created and expand it into more. Rather, they wiped the slate clean and started over with the impression that if they suppressed many of the positive elements of their original game they could release it back a little at a time and get a late surge in player support before the end of the D2 cycle. I don't think it's going to work.

                        • We’re already hearing the whining about “ability spam” with the proximity buff with your partner in Crimson Doubles. Sigh. Can’t catch a break here. You know what, just STFU and go away. The words “ability spam” is code for “I’m part of the problem.” Unfortunately I feel that it is only a matter of time before some crybaby goes on YouTube and bitches about something being OP because they dies to it. They are the reason we can’t have nice things here.

                        • I enjoyed both PVE and PVP in D1 though I was better at PVE. I did every Iron Banana and played Trials a lot when it first dropped. Because I played PVE a lot I had most of the end game PVE guns and was able to go in to the Crucible to show these guns off which I think was think the whole point of PVP originally. I have the Vex and Sauros in all their virginal glory and I have to admit that it didn't really matter if you were a sweaty or not, the Vex was going to melt you but it was purely fun. But then why shouldn't I feel over powered, I invested my time in the end game content so I should reap the rewards. Its a catalyst for others players to follow suit and grind for that gun. Then the nerf train started and it just got stupid. I can't say for certain why Bungie made some of the decisions they did over weapon balancing but my best guess is they lost sight of what they wanted Destiny to be. Now we have Destiny 2 that for me is just not a game I enjoy. I stopped playing in November and didn't but the DLC.

No, the sandbox is what sucks. Mainly because of the lead and a few devs that don't actually play the game and don't want to put any real effort into this game. So here comes Luke, aw poor guys. It's too hard for you huh? lets create a new system so it's easy for you. What should have been done over 2 years ago was separate the 2 game mods balancing or if the company had a brain. Find a new lead and a team that can actually handle this game. Because nerfing the most popular and calling that "balancing" the entire game is the most ridiculous thing any company has ever done to a game like this.

                          • It's funny that you should mention that because PvE players are the ones responsible for the way the game has turned out. Sure, there were some PvP players complaining about things in D1 PvP, but more often than not it was the PvE players that would wade into the Crucible trying to swash-buckle their way around the map and getting killed because of poor decisions. They would then take to the forums and demand a nerf for all the OP things in the game with all the saltiness they could muster. They wanted balance and they got it. Now they're complaining about it.
