Why would a second game benefit bungie? Why not do something original for consoles and create a massive game instead of small spin offs of the original? I personally would keep spending money on a game that progressively added an entire game worth of content instead of a brand new version of a game just with a new number infront of it. Eventually making the whole galaxy and most of earth playable and explorable. Would anyone agree with this? Would anyone like a console game fps that keeps growing like a pc mmorpg?
Update1: Seem like alot of people like this idea, but would you still be willing to pay the 60 for regular and 100-120 for ultimate/collector's editions of a expansion. Remember in what I am talking about is a full games worth of content. I would gladly pay that price to have an unrealistic experience, but would you?
Update 2: lots of people seem to like this idea so I think its time to address different issues people a coming up with.
1. All of the consoles have memory expansion or upgrade options which allow increased storage memory. Check your consoles support page
2. Previous gen ie ps3 and xbox 360 can't handle it. They can with reduced overal graphic settings whats currently employed for this game and any other that is on all 4 platforms. Obviously in a few years those consoles will be obsolete and players will naturally migrate to current gen consoles as support for last gen consoles disappear.
3. What about new players starting after a new "full size expansion" or FSE for short. Well currently my view on the matter is for there to be 2 options
1) allow the to purchase D1 digitally for a reduced price 20ish bucks and able to purchase FSE D2 later at regular price.
2) allow players to bundle the purchase FSE D2 with D1 and digital content for an additional price of 15-30 dollars. Bargain brains will love that.
Along with purchasing this new player/current players new characters would receive a exp boost of 2x degrading as the character gets closer to max lvl. This allows veterans and new comers alike to get from grinding and questing to being part of the action quickly with out diminishing the overall game.
4. Another big point someone brought to the table is upgrades to the overall game engine, mechanics, graphic, characters, and etc. You have to remember this is an install game its resident on your consoles hard drive. We are not playing on N64 any more. Your consoles are more or less a condensed PC. These changes can be made through massive patches and/or through the FSE installations or a combination of both . These capabilities have been employed throughout many MMOs lifespans.
I know there are grammar errors though out my post please remember I do this from my phone. Also we all know destiny 2 is on the disc so can do we get a cryptarch joke or 2.
Next update will consist of ideas for the expansions. Lets see if we can be heard.

This probably won't be the case, and the reason for it is simple. Destiny 2 will be exclusively next-gen (PS4 and Xbox One). Meaning graphics will be amped, and environments will be bigger, with the capacity to hold more than 12 players. I suspect this was one of the reasons for Destiny's biggest shortcomings. Having to share current and next gen consoles meant smaller environments and parties, with less people per servers.
-
When I first played destiny I was hoping for the same thing, one game that just expanded, not several small games like halo
-
Plus, they already created this world, they would have to waste more time creating another 1 for Destiny 2.
-
This would be better than just "Destiny 2". Keep the game evolving and growing rather than just moving from one game to another.
-
It would be epic if bungie do that! Wish Deej can see this post and take to Dev team.
-
Destiny 2 will most likely be a next gen console game only so it will most likely support enhanced engine. If that were the case they wouldn't release it as an expansion rather since it wouldn't mesh with the current engine that is being used due to the last gen compatibility. Just a thought

That would be amazing
-
I want this so much but I dont think they will
-
ITT: people trying to convince themselves they won't automatically buy Des2iny just like they didn't automatically buy COD every year after telling themselves they wouldn't.
-
Regarding the carryover of current characters they'll have enemies and environments scaled based on level like what they have in guild wars.
-
Totally Agree

This is how I had originally imagined 10 years of Destiny going. I'm not sure if they would run into any HDD limitations, but I was picturing DLing DLC for the next 9 years that greatly expanded on what was released. This is what I was NOT picturing; just finishing an epic mission on Neptune, "Hey guys, I need to go farm spinmetal in the Cosmodrome. Ok, everyone take out D3 and put in D1 and meet me in orbit." "Umm, my D1 disc is all -blam!-ed up, I'll have to sit this one out. Shoot some Dregs in the face for me, though."
-
Instead of speculating, why not just wait until info is released?
-
All I know about it is that you can keep your character through it to the last Destiny.
-
Because Destiny 2 will cost 60 more $ unless you preorder the second edition which costs 80-100. $$$$$$$$
-
Lol what if the second game was already in Destiny
-
The problem isnt bungie. They signed a deal with the devil (activison) and now the players are suffering for it. We were supposed to have game of the decade. But now activison has every excuse to push out a game every year to give you the rest of the story for the next ten years. All in their sickening greed.
-
I would be inclined to agree with that, but since we don't really pay a subscription I don't mind. If they don't let us keep our characters that would be upsetting.
-
A really cool free game with FREE EXPANSIONS is waframe. PC/xb1/ps4. Free to download. There's about 10-12 missions on each planet. You can go to every planet and most of their moons. Makes deatiny look puny(and mind you waframe is a free game).

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
-
Do want...
-
agree with you m8 and im not even gona bother if d2 comes and not be an upgrade to the existing game
-
would never happen. the modern generation of gamers expects each new title to have "awesome graphics dude" so if that's not upgraded it's instantly considered crap. The industry and public as a whole are extremely brutal if a game does not add a new feature or game mode or something to that effect and usually several of them. bottom line is if you simply make it a more polished version of the original you failed to innovate. If you add new features or changes to a game you strayed too far from the original and fans groan.

Edited by Blue A10: 11/9/2014 12:31:43 PMAccording to that leaked contract info from back whenever (assuming it's still accurate/relevant, which I think part of it has changed already, so yeah), starting with Destiny 2, the series would not be available on last gen consoles, and would add PC to it's platforms. Unfortunately, I don't think they could add Destiny 2 onto 1 because of this, but it might be possible for 3 and 4 to add onto 2. As mentioned, this is all assuming that leaked info remains true. I hope it is, as my preferred platform is PC.

We will not stand for mediocrity! We will not throw money in bungies faces! Just watch this: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UZ5BpeHVTWY&itct=CE4QpDAiEwju5v_bt-3BAhVYE1gKHTURAKkyC2M0LXZpZGVvcy11WhhVQ2U5QUxrTTQ0VW93dTJjQ2YtZE12T1E%3D&gl=AU&client=mv-google&hl=en#watch_actions
