This probably won't be the case, and the reason for it is simple. Destiny 2 will be exclusively next-gen (PS4 and Xbox One). Meaning graphics will be amped, and environments will be bigger, with the capacity to hold more than 12 players. I suspect this was one of the reasons for Destiny's biggest shortcomings. Having to share current and next gen consoles meant smaller environments and parties, with less people per servers.

This is the most likely. If I remember correctly, the contract with Activision states that the first Destiny and the first Comet releases have to be on 360 and PS3. After that they only have to be supported, but new Destiny and Comet releases are next gen only. Hopefully this is the case, as I agree that some of the reasons this game seems lacking is having to placate to older tech and have the same experience across both generations.

I suspect this is probably why many of the worlds are not as intricate as we could imagine. Don't get me wrong, I think they're full of detail, and are big in certain ways, just not as vast as I originally thought they could have been. None the less, Destiny has a solid foundation to build upon. I suspect Destiny 2 will be bigger than most imagine.

I think you're right.
