Just wondering if bungie had a mode for destiny that had perma death on it. How many people would try it?? I figured the farther you get in that mode, you get greater rewards and you could stop perma death mode at any time and keep all your special rewards unless you die:)

Sword Art Online

It would be a good option to have. But I don't really like the idea of stopping perma death mode. I think they should do kind of like what Diablo did with Hardcore mode. You character is bound to that mode and can't be switched into the carebear side of the game. That way it is player choice to work on that char or not and it adds a huge deal of excitement to the game.

2 RepliesWhat if there were a raid that rewarded you with a full set of weapons and armor that were significantly better than anything else you could obtain in game, but, if you died during the raid, your character would be immediately erased along with all the gear he was carrying. Would you try the raid?

2 RepliesOr they could have a mode that is similar to some MMOs that have an exp death penalty. When you die you loose a set amount of exp. If accumulated over time without regaining said exp, you could even loose your level, de-level. Not as serious as loosing a char but still leaves a sting. I wouldn't do it though, regaining a lost level sucks.

3 RepliesIt doesn't really work within the lore. Guardians are Guardians because they have the travelers light and Ghosts to revive them. The only way for a Guardian to permanently die is to kill their Ghost.

Edited by SaferMurderweapon: 9/2/2014 8:14:06 PMThat would be very annoying. But I think a different version of permadeath that doesn't involve erasing your character in order to make things more challenging would be nice. For example; Iron Skull except instead of one person dying and having to go back to last checkpoint, if you die, you're dead for the whole mission and there are no checkpoints.

Sounds awesome sign me up

3 RepliesA hard mode would be nice
-
1 Replywell the game starts with you being dead so I assume nobody would get past the opening cut scene...
-
2 RepliesI think it'd be sweet as a separate mode, cause that would make the game about 1.5x more intense honestly
-
1 Reply[Starting New Game: Hardcore Mode] Ghost: "Guardian... eyes up guardian. You don't know how long I've been looking for you." Guardian: "..." Ghost: "Guardian? Oh, you're dead"
-
3 RepliesPlayers would cry if their guardian that they spent hours and hours on just died and they had to start again
-
1 ReplyYou mean like hardcore in diablo
-
1 ReplyThis actually wouldn't be too bad for me, since I'm primarily a PvE player and I'm better than average at staying alive in games.
-
1 Replyall the kids would cry
-
2 RepliesHonestly, I don't believe any of us would try it. Our ghost wouldn't be able to revive us at the beginning of the storyline because death was permanent.
-
1 ReplySounds like don't starve.
-
1 ReplyThey should make a gamemode called elimination. 5 rounds, 2 teams, 1 life.
-
1 Replyif it were exactly like the hardcore mode on dead space 3 were u die and have to start all over but get only exotic and legendary gear that would be cool
-
1 ReplyMy first thought was No. But. Then I thought more if the possibilities in PvE and it might be a nice option.

Edited by Jeff257: 9/2/2014 4:54:22 AMI wouldn't mind having a PvP game mode with no respawn unless you are revived in time. It could certainly add to some strategy in the game. Also PvE having something like that could be cool. Maybe buy into it with a certain amount of glimmer where if you get through you do get big rewards. If you die you don't lose anything but the glimmer. Oh and once you attempt the challenge whether you pass or fail it would lock you out from trying again until the next week starts.
-
7 RepliesThere is a game mode that has yet to be explained that only allows you to lose 3 times before being locked out.

I would be all over something like that....
-
I would suspect there is a sorta perma-death in destiny, otherwise known as getting banned. All online games suffer abusive players fortunately most online games have an end user agreement that can actually ban players for abusive behaviour.
-
It wouldn't be a bad idea but if you were able to change it at any time that would completely defeat the purpose. If it was like diablos hardcore mode then maybe but, still it wouldn't really fit all that well.

I would try it... but I'd get pretty sick of making new characters all the time haha
