Which if true means FS projections given to Sony by bungie, weren't hit. That & that alone would allow Sony to desolve the board & take control.
Source, trusted gaming insider Jeff grubb says Sony's Herman Hulst runs bungie now & bungie as we know them, are gone.

Feel a little sad if true, Jeff says he'll have more tomorrow

7 RepliesIll stay tuned for developments. This is getting nuts.
-
D2 feels more like a suped up mobile app game, hope Sony can save it.
-
Finally.

4 RepliesGreat news

3 RepliesDestiny may only last until marathon comes out, now. The game is all but dead if Sony took over. It haemorrhages cash - Sony probably can’t wait to shut it down and steal the talent.

Source, trusted gaming insider Jeff grubb says Sony's Herman Hulst runs bungie now & bungie as we know them, are gone.
anyone that didn't understand that this was going to happen with the 3 point whatever billion Sony paid to 'take bungie under it's wing' (LOL) is incredibly naïve. it was just a matter of time....

I can’t wait to play the upcoming Single Destiny mission.
-
From what bungie released, it sounds like they mainly shot themselves in the foot by starting up a bunch of smaller projects instead of just focusing on finishing marathon and bettering destiny. In their own words, they even said that they stretched the teams too far and made them too small to complete or better what was already being worked on.
-
4 RepliesI have not seen the details on Sony purchasing Bungie and who controls what. Typically those figures and details are closed to the public. That said, reading into the full official release for layoffs state the executive branch at Bungie s changing. Hopefully Sony sees that Destiny pays most of Bungie’s bills and makes changes for the better. New ideas need separate teams with their own capital. You can’t continue to rob Peter to pay Paul.
-
You know it was bound to happen when you’re overpromise and don’t deliver. Also too many projects going on. I have a hunch maybe a tin foil hat moment but I don’t think Marathon is coming out at all.
-
I don't feel sorry for the people working on the Death Star either.
-
Its not like SONY did anything bad, is more like BUNGIE deserved it.

22 RepliesEdited by Yosemite Sam: 8/1/2024 12:05:56 AMNo, this feeling bad for people who knew what they were doing working for a developer who has been at this for 30+ years is wrong. Anyone that stayed with them knew what was going on, and that is on them. I know, telling the truth is not allowed on this forum. I'm the bad guy, right? This baby the developer hogwash needs to be buried. This is the only community that I know of where a developer manipulated their community into feeling sorry for them. They are a business to make money, they knew what they were doing manipulating the player base into buying their product. Enough is enough, it is time for this developer to let someone else run the show and see what takes place from there.
-
this was an inevitability
-
1 ReplyLet’s be real, this was incoming. Sony is fully aware how much Bungie hates their own player community.
-
4 RepliesIt might not be a bad thing. Insomniac, Sucker Punch and Guerrilla seem to be doing ok with Sony. If Bungie management couldn’t figure out that trying to make three other games while supporting a huge live service game was ridiculous then it’s pretty clear they need someone else making the decisions.
-
1 ReplyBoo hoo
-
It would be sad to see Bungie completely dissolved, but it does give me hope for the survival of Destiny 2, a possible Destiny 3, and whatever the future holds for the franchise.
-
4 Repliessony never planned to take over. they wanted to poach the ONLY ones there who knew how to run a live game. Bungie will be hollowed out and eaten.

The layoffs were basically a complete restructuring of Bungie leaving only Destiny 2 and Marathon in Bungies hands while taking devs from the game moving them to a new sony studio and a project that was being worked on to them. Sony isn’t taking over this is the worst take ive seen that uses 0 information that Bungie gave us As well saying “Bungie as we know them” is gone is extremely untrue as if what they said is true then the head pete is gone which in turn means that the game will no longer head in its current direction. They still have remaining executives from petes time.
-
2 RepliesSony taking over from the big/overall perspective is probably a good thing for the franchise. Sony taking over, from an XBox console player’s perspective, might not be so good if Destiny 3 is developed by Sony and becomes PS Exclusive.
-
3 RepliesEdited by shockers1401: 7/31/2024 10:20:39 PMMaybe Sony can make the game better if they keep it crossplay and do the good that bungie greedy leader Pete could not and perhaps they can lower the difficult to master lost sector and grandmaster that bungie put in

24 RepliesNo more Xbox now. #RIPXBOX
-
And thank god for that. I, for one, welcome SIE over Bungie's executive team. Feel terrible for the jobs affected though.
-
2 RepliesI'm happy, maybe with this takeover Sony can put Destiny 2 back on their feet, just like the good old days.
-
3 RepliesWe can only hope.
