15,000 BRIGHT DUST JUST FOR THE GLOWS?

AND THE ONES FROM LAST YEAR DON’T WORK, OR EVEN AT LEAST GIVE A DISCOUNT? AFTER HOW MUCH BRIGHT DUST THE TRIBUTE HALL COST? Season of Opulence indeed. Edit to elaborate: Why was Bright Dust ever involved in Tribute Hall? A currency reserved for Eververse suddenly being of any kind of importance to Calus? Yet people are still sitting around with full stacks of Baryon Bough that are good for LITERALLY. NOTHING. Then there’s the matter of how much cheaper the glows were last year, while also being available for free unlock through leveling up. Now it’s way more expensive with no alternative. It’s just as backwards as when Year 1 drop rate for Exotics was super high and Three of Coins were unnecessary. Then Year 2 comes, Exotic drop rate gets severely nerfed and Three of Coins are removed. It’s such backwards logic that gets us nowhere. And the fact that those who were here in Year 1 and claimed full sets of Majestic armor, as well as all the glows, had that armor invalidated in WEEKS. The glows became USELESS. Now logic would state that those who worked for them should be able to use the same glows on the updated gear, yet we have updated Ornaments. Which would be fine and all, if there we any kind of lessened cost as a result, but there’s absolutely nothing. It’s just one thing after another. And if this is the trend going into Shadowkeep? Yeah. Edit again for those saying “just don’t buy them”: what then, would you say is the draw of solstice of heroes? What’s one of the biggest things Bungie has advertised about SoH since the Opulence Roadmap came out? Did Bungie ever act as though the Majestic Armor was the real endgame of SoH, or did they constantly show the armor with the Ornaments? You know, the Ornaments similar to the Revelry flair we temporarily got, but for free? The glow packages we got FROM ENGRAMS LAST YEAR? That if you just played enough, you received at NO COST? The Ornaments have always been one of the biggest motivators of SoH because they’re the closest we’ve got to Chroma in D2, aside from Prime armor that only really glows in Gambit. Yet it’s locked behind such a ridiculous wall of BD. The idea of unlocking this kind of endgame cosmetic through actual gameplay seems to be OUT OF THIS WORLD in the modern gaming industry. Why not make it so masterworking your Solstice Gear grants the glows? It seems to be such a foreign concept that used to be natural to Bungie. Looking at YOU Nanophoenix. “BuT iTs STiLl pUrChAseAble ThRoUgh GaMepLaY” Bounties give 150 Bright Dust for ridiculous objectives. Five Gambit matches to get 150 Bright Dust, when I could dismantle an RNG drop Exotic Ship from a Best of Year One and get FIVE HUNDRED. And once again, here we go again with Shadowkeep. And just so everyone is aware, I’ve now purchased all three glows. And now have 160 Bright Dust. But here comes SHADOWKEEP WITH NO ENGRAMS, HANG ON TO YOUR SEATS BOYS AND GIRLS One more edit: I find it hilarious that the new Ornaments STILL SUFFER from the SAME BUG AS LAST YEAR, where the ornament for the Hunter cloak doesn’t glow properly in social spaces. Same exact bug, so it’s clearly THE SAME CODING with a little flair. Yet players who already HAD the glows cant use them. Smh. Last edit: done responding to people. • It sucks that people don’t see the big picture. “Hyuck, I have 70k dust, sucks to be you!” Let’s see how long their dust lasts when Shadowkeep comes around. Oh well, it’s only $24 to get the glows. I guess if they don’t have dust they can just shell out far more money than what the content they’re getting is worth. “Hyuck, I ain’t poor, I’ll just buy silver.” Content keeps getting shittier, but Bung doesn’t care because ol’ Cletus “ain’t poor” and will just buy silver. And video games just keep getting shittier. The EAZ got boring before my first playthrough was over, and now I’m sure that I’ll be sent back to play strikes or public events... but that’s okay. Bungie will get ol’ Cletus’s money and Solstice will actually make more money in microtransactions than shadowkeep will make from the cost of the expansion. So why wouldn’t Bung keep charging dumbasses $24 for little armor glows that used to be earnable in game? The -blam!-ing idiots not only throw their money at the screen, they defend Bungie for bending them over.

    • I just checked silver prices on xbox live, and the price for all three glows (£24.99 is the cheapest possible price) is almost costs the same for the base shadowkeep expansion (£29.99. Bungie is trying to sell three cosmetic items for almost the same price as an expansion, a comet style expansion none the less. Before I proceed, I want to preface this by stating that i'm going by the perspective that you currently own 0 silver. It costs 2400 silver in total to buy all of the glows. Now I checked silver prices on xbox live, and it costs £8.39 for 1000 silver (+100). So if you wanted to buy all three glows, it would cost £25.17. Now of course, there are other purchase options. You can buy 2000 silver (+300) for £16.79. You could buy the other 1000 silver for £8.39, but that would actually be more expensive, at 25.18. Its a penny difference, but a difference none the less. The cheapest is the 3000 silver (+500) option, at. £24.99 Whoever decided to price these items needs to be fired. Out of a cannon.

Holy crap y'all need to chill it's not a new thing. This isn't rocket science. If you were patient and didn't spend all your dust you'd be fine. That is on you. How does this affect your gameplay? Are you spending the money? And if you are...who cares? Nobody is making you do anything. Just because you can't have everything day one doesn't mean go and throw a fit about it. Lord. EDIT: They even cost the same as last year! Like, exactly the same. The difference? Y'all spent your glimmer! If you spent a bunch of cash on your car, do you just expect them to drop your oil change cost the next month because you paid to get a some things added to your car? Guys.... C'MON. THIS IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE.

    • Guys, I don't want to defend Bungie too much, they certainly have some control over what happens with eververse, but don't forget that Season of Opulence is still part of the deal with Activision that they HAVE TO complete in way Activision WANTS. Everything beyond is Bungie for themselves.. so if I were you, I would wait for Shadowkeep to drop and see how that goes and then blame Bungie.. until then, yeah it sucks and I hope they can reduce the cost based on player feedback, if not.. then shame on them, but there's still high chance this is just Activision trying to milk their last money from this franchise.

        • Won't defend the use of bright dust in the tribute hall. You make a good point that it was a poor decision. But that's independent of this.... you're upset that it's too expensive. Then don't buy it. That simple. It has absolutely nothing to do with the game. It has nothing to do with gameplay. It has nothing to do with rewards. The actual tangible gear, including the aesthetics and gameplay, are all earned through gameplay. You're not even complaining that you have to pay to dress your barbie. You're complaining that, after having earned the dress for your barbie through gameplay, that you can't make the dress glow in your favorite way.... in fact you're not even complaining that you can't, you're just complaining that it's too expensive, in terms of in game currency.

They removed it from rng for the sake of convenience. You know, theres a whole business presentation that's resurfaced recently called "let's go whaling", it's a powerpoint that goes over all the ways to manipulate people into buying microtransactions, you wanna know what was the most important/easiest way to monetize? Convenience...

                  • It's ridiculous really, especially when if you have actually looked at the eververse store, an exotic emote coats less bright dust. It's 800 silver to get all the glows. You would have to break down 10 exotic ships for example to get the bright dust. Therefore if you have no dust or anything exotic to break down for whatever reason, you would be better off paying the money for the 800 silver. But you can't buy 800, you have to buy more. When you look at it this way, it's obviously just another money grab.

Eververse will have all of the coolest cosmetics in Destiny and rewards from the actual game will look like Scatterhorn gear. I’m not preordering for the first time in Destiny history. I know damn well the game is going to be good this fall but I’m just sick of Eververse always taking the front seat in this game. There is not a single reward that’s in this game that looks as good as the Eververse inventory anymore. This game is all about Eververse at this point. Everything leads to Eververse. Eververse, Eververse, Eververse. LAME They might as well just take out all of the other vendors AND the cryptarch at this point and quit acting like they are doing anything in this game besides working on Eververse rewards.

                        • Last year's was so much better than the trash they have done this time around! What's the point of even grinding the new area can't remember what it's called to get the packages that don't actually give you anything but blue armor and guns that you've probably had a hundreds of times before. No exotic ship like before just a boring sparrow that looks plain and isn't worth the grind. Bungie said it was activision holding them back and everyone believed them but the truth is when activision were pulling the stings at least you got more for your money but now it's bungo getting all that dollar knowing people will pay to have glowing armor which let's face it looks exactly the -blam!-ing same as last year's set that was free! The more people keep paying for it the more greedy they will become. GG BUNGIE as your old pal calus says.... Grow fat from strength which to you is $$$$$$

It was 15000 for all 3 sets last year too. Why no uproar then? Also, you need to stop spreading false info. They have said we will get engrams and there will be bright dust in shadowkeep, we just wont get bright dust from the items we dismantle from tess.

                          • I would advise everyone to avoid getting any of the glows... chances are the glows won't work on 2.0, and it's likely that once 2.0 comes around y2 won't be used! If you're going to whack 15k of bright dust (or the silver equivalent) I would recommend getting the other items.... something that doesn't have a four week shelf life!

                            • Bright dust economy is screwed. 100 bright dust from a legendary, 500 from exotic items. So you have to dismantle 10 exotic items to be able to afford the glows, or 50 legendary items (or a mix match). Point is that it’s a collection game where we aren’t allowed to collect. Sure it’s ticked off in the collection tab but you sure as hell can’t use it unless you pay again to take it out. I have hardly any cosmetic ever verse items because they’ve all been dismantled for bright dust. The event wouldn’t have been such an ass on the economy if there was an engram but no, Bungie made another meaningless change which no one asked for at all.

                              • Hopping someone can confirm something for me. Is it true that bright dust will not be obtainable after Shadowkeep drops, so anything that gives you dust today will only give you shards/glimmer post-Shadowkeep? If so, isn’t the advice to everyone to dismantle any and all items that drop bright dust (and that aren’t being actively used) today? Just trying to get a handle on what I should be deleting today so I can at least maximize bright dust bank.
