Hopping someone can confirm something for me. Is it true that bright dust will not be obtainable after Shadowkeep drops, so anything that gives you dust today will only give you shards/glimmer post-Shadowkeep? If so, isn’t the advice to everyone to dismantle any and all items that drop bright dust (and that aren’t being actively used) today? Just trying to get a handle on what I should be deleting today so I can at least maximize bright dust bank.
If so, isn’t the advice to everyone to dismantle any and all items that drop bright dust (and that aren’t being actively used) today?
Yes. What Bungie is basically doing is that they are phasing out "lootboxes" for Year 3...and replacing it with items we can directly purchase from EV with either bright dust or silver. What will probably happen is that things will first appear in the store to be bought for silver....and then reappear later in the year for bright dust. Instead of getting BD from dismantling things from EV lootboxes, we'll simply earn it directly from game play. It's been clear all season that Bungie was preparing us for the change by giving us all First Year swag that most of us have already....in order to NUDGE us into dismantling it...and therefore building up a stockpile of bright dust going into Year 3. The people you are hearing complaining are probably people who didn't think or plan ahead....and blew through their resources so they could have the Bad Juju catalyst right away. So now they're startign to see that the BD they spent so lavishly is now becoming more valuable.....and they're coming up short. But---in typical gamer fashion----they don't want to take responsibility for having made a bad decision (and learning from it)....they just want someone to blame and be mad at. TLDR: YES....if you're smart....you're dismantling everything you get from EV engrams this season..and everything from EV in your vault that you aren't using. Then stockpiling the bright dust.

  • Awesome explanation, thanks! Yeah frequenting these forums long enough I have a pretty keen ear for genuine gripes, and this definitely didn’t have that feel. The fact you can use the glows beyond the event is very exciting and definitely a big improvement over last year’s event IMHO.

That's not true. You will still get bright dust in shadowkeep, you'll get it from bounties and engrams(not sure about activities), you just wont get it from items you break down that you get from her engrams. Yes, that is the advice, straight from bungie's mouth. Break it all down. To maximize your bright dust, break down all the things you got from her that you dont want/use, i.e. ships, sparrows, shaders, armor, etc. You can still get bright dust for it up until shadowkeep drops.

  • I believe they said you’ll get bright dust from activities after shadowkeep.
