Does the focus on coming customization mean open subclass trees are coming back? Upvote if you hope so.

    • I highly doubt that, otherwise they would have announced that in the ViDoC already. The expansion focuses on new things to add, not to entirely rework ALL subclasses they obviously spend over a year to make, balance and find perks for it which work perfectly together within a certain path. As right now, a free perk selection (D1 style) would break the classes on several levels because they were not designed that way for D2. D1 on the other hand WAS designed for it (they nerfed several combinations since a majority only used meta combinations though). But heh, who knows?

    • I just want to be able to pick any class ability for any subclass. If I could dodge to cloak with any class, I’d be using different classes MUCH more frequently instead of running Nightstalker 95% of the time.

    • Even if we would be able to just choose what we would like in between the three branches in each sublclasses tree... one of the tier ones, twos, threes, and fours.

    • probably not - at least not with how the "trees" are now. Warlocks would run top tree slova with bottom tree devour and handheld supernova - chaos.. utter chaos. Oh and bottom tree striker super with either regular shoulder charge or missle.

        We need the freedom to build our characters how we want. We need a character-editor in the tower as a vendor, we need voice options for Ghost, and we need to be able to select what subclass abilities we want. We also need the Factions back, we need New Monarchy, Dead Orbit, and Future Warcult as they where in D1 with New sets of gear each season that can be earned as where doing other activities.

          definitely A major step in the right direction🙏 they should've never moved away from that system in the 1st place, but usually with Bungie it's all about taking 1 step forward 10 steps back🙄

        • Wouldn’t it make sense if they incorporated our light level into our skill tree? What I mean is... If you’re light level 602 and melee someone/something, guess what, 602 damage (minus any perks/mods).. What this does is allow everyone to choose exactly what skills they use from the tree without any of them being “op”. As you progress, wouldn’t you know it, so does your character. 🤷🏻‍♂️ dunno just thinking out loud. Bungie has become a rookie show.

        • Would also be pretty pointless as people would gravitate towards the clear meta builds, resulting in what we have now with more micro management.

          • I hope so, but I don't think it's gonna happen in D2. Subclasses would need a major rework and more perks will need to be added that are both desirable and appealing. Most of D1 perks were either useless or did little to nothing to benefit the overall subclass. Side note: I'm not too hyped up about those new finishing moves. I think I would have preferred a new subclass and supers.

              The limited path system has been a real fall down from D1’s customisation and RPG feel. Maybe they’ll at least let us mix and match the perks we already have from each path in each class? That would be good.

            • Maybe....it would be nice. The annoyed side of me says...no because it'll screw over PvP somehow someway....and we can't have that now can we? The hopeful but mostly wrong side says.....it would bring some variety and most welcome options to be able to mess with.....making our God-Slayers even more efficient. I really want them to.....like I really do. It seems they're going for a more RPG approach......so you would think so....but we had the same thought processes on past events and look how that turned out.

            • I find it Amazing how no one has brought this is in any interviews or at e3 in any vid docs . I never see any body posting asking about it. So bravo seems all these try hards care about is gun balancing and Light levels. I'm a D1 vet. And not a day goes by I dont miss that awesome skilltree set up. So may more options to play. So many more ways to use your power and diffrent powers persubclass. I say change it back and if your not gonna change it back. Then at least add on to or current skill trees every season. That would give People more to look forword to with seasons. And grinding. Evolving your game and characters is not just about a trickle of new weapons. And raising a few numbers of power. Destiny has always been a 3 sided blade. Guns ,light, power. They all go hand in hand. In dw your leveling took forever but it felt good and it made you wanna play to unlock those new powers. Now they want us to just keep returning these 6 player activitys for random loot. And light levels. No sir if I'm gonna grind let me grind for new powers. I mean think about it after you get the gear and level up. You keep leveling for what bright engrams??? What about people who have everything? Having more skill tree nodes introduced every season is gonna give them something to look forword to in the longer end game

              • The removal of subclass customisation provides some pretty solid evidence that bungie is lazy when it comes to balancing (if you still needed any). Balancing fixed branches is way probably easier than individual perks. Personally I’d rather they focus on more pressing matters although I’d love customisable subclasses back at some point.

                • In PVE: I want to be able to shield myself with a void shield from an Ogre blast as I float around throwing flaming hammers whilst applying a one hit knee to the face Kill as I Melting point everything. Only to dive down and smash the ground creating an earthquake that bolts lightening out of the ground, then Pop a bubble on purpose and not by accident. In PVP: Yeah? you want to cap zone B? F*CK you and your ZONE! that is MY ZONE! As fly from the sky in a burning ball landing Right there on B creating a Solar wave explosion burning everything around it for 30 Seconds. I want to Akimbo electric Hammers that seek out opponents as I Slide around on a void shield whilst creating an over shield as I headbutt shoulder charge everything as the ACDC - TNT plays in the background.
