Small recoil reduction needed on console.

I already know the response people will bring up about the subject. Controlling wild recoil on mouse and keyboard doesn't feel right. Well it doesn't particularly feel great on console with a controller either. I was watching some PC players do the raid using recluse and mountain top. They were mapping enemies with recluse effortlessly. With a controller there is no way i would be able to land all my shots at that distance with a 900 rpm SMG. No way. I'm not asking for the same recoil as PC, but a small reduction would be great. A buff to how much stability helps as well as how much counterbalance helps could be useful. We all know there is a issue with bloom and recoil on hand cannons. But it exists with all weapons. Pulse, auto, SMG, even scout rifles!

            • No they just need to let us customize the sensitivity curve on console. Game doesn't need recoil reduction or removing aim assist. With a customizable sensitivity curve in the options menu, we'll be able to control recoil. You'll still need to have the skill and mechanical dexterity to control recoil patterns. What is a sensitivity curve? It defines what happens in the game when you move your controller's thumbsticks. The simple look sensitivity in Destiny (goes from 1 to 10) only determines how fast you can possibly move along the sensitivity curve. There are in depth guides out there about this topic, and there's a bunch of games that give you the option to customize the sensitivity curve. In Overwatch, it's called "Aim Ease In," in Titanfall and Apex Legends, it's called "Response Curve." Destiny 2 has a heavily modified sensitivity curve that Bungie put in the game and we can't change or even see it. It makes small, minute adjustments to aiming diagonally difficult, but makes looking straight up/down and left/right more stable. This is why it's a lot easier to make small adjustments to your aim with the strafe stick instead of the aim stick, and you see that all the time in Crucible. A lot of guns in Destiny have recoil patterns that do not go straight up, like SMG's, making them nigh impossible to control on console with the 1 sensitivity curve that Destiny has. PC Destiny is a different story, if you watch PC players using SMG's for example, it looks as if they have no recoil. This is because they can change the sensitivity curve of the mouse, and the mouse is a bit easier to make minute adjustments with. If you have Apex Legends downloaded, (it's a free game) you can find the option called Response Curve (it's a slider in the controller options menu) and find out for yourself how it affects your aim.

            • Then they'd have to take away the generous aim assist on console.

Anyone else think it’s funny how lore wise, Lightbearers are superior in physique to normal people, going so far as to effortlessly kill people with a pat on the back, throw others like javelins, and even move mountains in some cases, and yet we can barely control the recoil on some of these guns?

                    • I had a friend try out destiny the other day, I was trying to get him into it. He played for a bit n soon realized this game is not for him simply because the weapons don't feel right at all. We play Apex Legends together n we all know how nice the guns feel in that game. Just saying, if bungie would do a better job in the gun play department I think this games player base would be a lot bigger.

                      • Agreed. This is why counterbalance and zen moment and hand laid stock type perks were very sought after in D1, because recoil was so bad and those perks helped turn weapons more manageable and even into laser beams in some cases. Almost every weapon is a laser beam on PC and almost none are now on console, lol. There are weapons I won't use because the recoil is so bad or awkward.

                        • Actually, consoles don't need a recoil reduction at all. What they need are some actually good controller options, and a way to customize the sensitivity curve of Destiny. I can control recoil just fine in other console shooters because those games let me customize the sensitivity curve. In Apex Legends I use the R-99 like an assault rifle because I can control the recoil with a controller. I can only do that because Apex Legends lets me customize the sensitivity curve. Basically, I can make the thumbsticks more responsive to the inputs I'm making with the sticks. In Destiny there's only 1 sensitivity curve and even 10 sensitivity isn't going to help control recoil because small, minute adjustments to to the stick (to adjust aim) aren't actually recognized. It's a heavily modified curve. And anyway while we're on controller options in Destiny, this franchise has the same (nearly identical) controller options as Bungie's first console shooter from 2001, Halo: CE. The game really needs a slider to adjust the sensitivity curve on a 1:1 (linear) ratio

                            • if you try to the control the recoil of an smg by pulling down the gun will deflect to the right or left to introduce rng and make your aim bad. how stupid is that. There is no weapon on earth that recoils to the right or left , or down. All weapons recoil straight up even if you hold that gun upside down because ballistics follows a parabolic arc which goes up then down. I guess bungie doesnt like physics.

                                • A small recoil reduction on console players is absolutely warranted. The bad FPS makes many weapons feel bad along side the absurd recoil on most unpopular weapons. PC is fine for most weapons sure including players using controller but on console most are limited and have to use easier weapons, Bung. Upvote OP please.

                                • I think recoil is fine on console. I was actually thinking it needs to be a bit higher on PC. There are reasons why it's not as high as console, but that doesn't mean it should be nearly nonexistent.

Not going to lie it would be hilarious if PC was given the same amount of recoil and bloom as console. Honestly console and PC should have the same recoil and bloom.. whether it's none or a ton. Having two seperate iterations of the game i'm sure doesn't help when it comes to "balance".

In my opinion recoil is fine as it is, if you could map enemies with SMGs and other similar guns then there would be no use for scout rifles, long range guns would be completely useless. I think people are forgetting how recoil felt in D1, either that or they've simply never played the game before, recoil was much more intense especially on handcannons. To reinforce my argument I'd like to point out that nobody uses scouts on PC and that's because there's no reason to. Also if you're the one guy out of the entire population of D2 who uses scouts on PC please don't meme me.

While they should be THAT stable, they have the tools available to fix them on console. I love recluse and last word on striker

                                        • I think you want to ask for more aim assistance. Less recoil won't help bad aiming. Lol My aim sucks so If I want to play crucible I have to have steady rounds or ricochet rounds, with zen moment, and a stability Masterwork. Add kill clip to it or Rampage and there you go.
