Vendors

This is just my point of view on how vendors (specifically Crucible, Vangaurd and Drifter) should be more important. For Gear, make the vendors sell all weapons and armor with rotating perks at reset. And if we rank up make it where it was like Destiny 1 where you could choose between a weapon or armor package. Another thing that could work out well is bring more bounties like Nightahade but with armor as well.

  • We've seen feedback for vendors, ranging for more sources for Enhanced Perks, to splitting reward packages between Armor and Weapons. What other feedback do you have?

    • Totally agree. Would love to see additional emphasis on vendor and economies/gear associated with them.

    • How about refreshing the loot pool for the vendors and world drops? Most of us are tired of the same old drops and rewards since day one. The limited random perks helped for a while, but even that has gotten stale. Most of the vendor rewards and world drops have become the equivalent of an Edge Transit by now. * Choosing between weapons and armor was a great addition in D1 and would be most welcomed in D2.

      • I agree fully with this! There is an extreme lack of variety when it comes to weapon loadouts because Bungie has taken the minimalist approach to this game and only adding a new weapon here or there with a year one reskin.

      • They added weekly reset on vendors at the end of D1. This should have been part from the very beginning.

          • Here is the solution to the pvp being removed debacle/rumor. Bungie you do pretty good with pve stuff just add a bit more variety to boss mechanics. For example every boss in this game has a stomp mechanic. Change it up a bit and be creative with the bosses attacks/move set. For example instead of just a stomp and you fly backwards, have the boss shoot its gun/power in the sky and it makes a wave of energy pushing you back or does major damage if your caught in it. That was just one example for pve for how you can create variety with the enemies. Now for my solution with pvp. Remember how we had vendors in d1? We need vendors back and for this specific reason. Vendors sell every peice of armor for legendary shards or whatever. All of the faction vendors items cannot be used in pvp. The only loadouts you can use in the crucible will be from the crucible vendor. The crucible vendor will sell every peice of armor- helmet, arms, chest, legs, class item. The crucible will also sell every weapon archetype in the game. Of course these will all be themed for the crucible so their style will all match "red and white" or whatever colors you decide for crucible. So there now you can have pve have its power fantasy with crazy loot and when you want to go in the crucible, you have to have on a complete set of crucible gear- weapons and armor. Do you see where I am going with this? That way you can have you pvp balance and let pve have its power fantasy uncapped. Crucible would then be closer to year 1 of d2 but hey at least it would be balanced and when you beat the other team, you know it's because you're better and not your meta loadout. And you can call that the competitive crucible. Then you can have crazy crucible or whatever you'd like to call it to where everyone can wear the loadouts they want like how the crucible is now. Let me know if this sounds stupid or good. Thanks

Imo they shouldn't have ever been changed from what D1 offered. As you said they had a rotating loot system and when new DLC came out the some would get a fresh inventory like Vanguard and Factions that were never removed from the game. What you are asking is why the vendors inventory were stripped. Bungie got lazy when creating their loot system in D2 and when Forsaken released they made matters worse removing what little inventory Ikora had and stripped the gunsmith while removing Factions. On top of that, not keeping other vendors relevant in this game like the planet vendors or weak at best effort updating the tower vendors. Imo power engrams shouldn't have been used to try to replace the vendors inventory especially with the absurd amount of duplicates in this game. Tess shouldn't have been used to try to fill in that void of missing loot in the loot pool that also removed some of the vendors inventory, cores shouldn't have had to be used other than ( their intended purpose ) and that was only to masterwork. I could go on, but the point is, Bungie needs to work on creating actual loot for this game and stop looking for ways around their unwillingness to put actual effort into this game because they want to be lazy about it. This is supposed to be a loot based game and because Bungie doesn't want to create that much-needed loot is why most of the vendors in this game are useless. Hell, not even Amanda Holliday has ever been used as here intended purpose since the beginning of Y1 of D1. Currently, there are 36 sets of gear missing from this game and if Bungie was doing their job as they should have been doing this whole time, there are an extra 33 sets that could have been added to this game that would make it 69 sets of gear that is loot that could have been added and some of the unnecessary changes in this game wouldn't have "needed" to take place.

Another example of how something worked just fine in D1 but was inexplicably changed in D2. I wonder what is going on with the design team’s decisions, the vendor/token/engram system just makes it seem like the old team left and the new team wants to change it just for the sake of being different. That and focusing too much on Eververse, sucking up too much of the content team’s capacity. Yes, making content is hard, but if you already had a good system in place, you can plan accordingly.

                • I would be happy if they added the rank system back from a season or two ago that rank 50 got you a cool exotic ship with armor and weapons along the way. Not sure why they got rid of that?

in addition to what you said; but with a tweak: token/material turn in for engrams: more expensive cost than now, random from seperated loot pool ie. weapons or armor, but slightly increased chance for items to drop with masterwork thresholds and chance of "powerful" drops sellables: like D1 - have the items available to purchase like D1; lower cost, have the rolls refresh weekly; drop @ 10 power (like eververse) bounties & extras: weapon pursuits, extra material/token bounties; ornament bounties.
