Please don’t enter a raid group without knowing what to do!

EDIT: Please read the post without assuming I am an elitist. This post is meant to help people because this raid is 100% different than past raids. Before I start I want to say if the entire group is completely fresh obviously that is fine. If you want to raid but havent done the leviathan yet, please watch some videos first! This isn’t like other raids where someone can mess everything up and the team still win! When people who have never been in the raid join a group it will take at least an hour of explaining throughout the raid. You may be wondering how can you know the raid if you have never done the raid... the answer is simple read guides or watch videos on it! This way you enter the raid with a good grasp of what will happen and then just need to clarify details or have a simple run down given. Please bungie help us help you like for example for every 5-6 guardians you take you get good shit. Or special gear amd emblem with like fire gear something that stands out for those whole help guardians instead of dissing new or dumb guardians just saying help those who help those

  • Even if you have watched vids people still won’t let you raid with them. I haven’t completed a single raid since vault of glass year one destiny 1 and now I will always be behind the curve. Sure I’ve watched vids on how to do each raid so I know how to do them but no one will take the time to help a underleveled player through a raid or nightfall. Why would they, they get nothing out of it, it’s to much of a risk for them, and they’ve probably got friends who will help them who are the same light as them. But for someone like me who’s under light level I will always be the problem in any group, if things go bad I’ll be the first one kicked so that a much higher leveled player can join the group. And that makes it hard for me to make friends. I completed year one vault of glass because I found a group of people and right when the raid opened and after many failing we finally completed the raid and would all raid together because we trusted each other, but now none of them play and all the experienced raiders are too shut up in there groups that they won’t take on anyone new. I’ve tried the online forums and apps to get a group but no one gives underleveled players the time. Point of order, op **** you, and bungie your a disappointment to a long time fan.

Dang, I wonder how kids beat video games before the internet? Please don't post asking for randoms without being capable of explaining things. especially if it takes you an hour to explain, those are the kinds of folks who probably shouldn't be explaining.

What's ironic about all this is the fact that I've held countless hands through VOG, Crota, Oryx, wrath and taniks if that even counts. Then as soon as D2 rolled out during my week of finals (trimesters) I missed 5 days of gameplay and now everyone is making it feel like I missed out on a year. Those same guardians who relied on my input for walkthroughs were complaining that I didn't complete the raid yet, they don't care if you watched the videos or "know what to do", they want to see the emblem. I rest with those who have already stated - too early for these type of posts.... It's not a difficult raid and I'd argue that it isn't "completely different" from past raid encounters.

        • When I am a high enough level to do a raid, I'll probably just watch a walkthrough beforehand. I hate going into a raid having no idea what I'm doing. Makes me feel like such an idiot.

            • That is all well an good but lot of videos gloss over some of the mechanics that the PoV Character isn't actually doing. Lot of the videos the video guide hyper focuses on what they need to be doing rather than a guide for the full raid. So you end up getting incomplete or flat out wrong information. All the videos will really do is familiarize you with the raid and not substitute for a proper in-game explanation.

              • This is absolutely wrong. The best way to learn is by jumping into a raid with people who know what to do( of course you should disclose your inexperience) If you haven't done a raid find a group willing to teach you...a lot of people like to share their knowledge...not everyone is an asshole like op

                • It's fine to go into a raid blind if your raid party is aware of it and agrees to help you out. The only problem is when people straight-up lie.

Me and my group have no issues talking out and helping people through who never done the raid before and need visual guidance. We suggest looking at videos IF they are still confused. We've have little to no problem actually showing and dry running areas to let them get a good feel of the raid themselves. That said, what I DON'T like is how people fill slots in my fireteam on here and not even being online or accepting invites. Don't do that. I rather wipe 10 times in the gauntlet then having to constantly remove people in slots or repost looking for another person.

                    • The only "Elitists" I see are those who think they are too good to watch a video. I could say so much here as raids are the reason I play this game. Done every raid in D1 more times than I could possibly count, and still from time to time, watch videos from youtubers who I have found do a good job explaining so I can better understand and not blight others. If they take it that way,at least I know I've done my homework. Most guys I play with are going to tell anyone who does not know to watch a video on the spot, those who won't are out. That's the way it goes. If this makes you angry, you are the problem. 45 min of your precious time is just too much to ask eh? LATER!!!

                      • Ive watched the videos, I've prepared for weeks to get the right weapons and armor for each part.. yet I just spent 5 hours (11pm-4am) on LFG tonight posing this every 10-15 mins on average and got exactly ZERO invites. Not one single person. "Fast learning veteran, 299-301 Hunter. LF other high level, experienced guardians to help on my first run if you're willing " It doesn't matter if you disclose your inexperience. From what I seen tonight no one is willing to help. I'm very disappointed in the community.

                            • " Please read the post without assuming I am an elitist" Yeah, okay, still an elitest. I'm sure those competing for world first all had wonderful videos on hand to show them how to do the raid. If you want a group that knows what to do, tailor your LFM to say that, but by no means is it a general requirement to have researched it all unless you make it a requirement for your specific group. Some people still care about the bit of mystery of learning it first hand.

                            • I'm perfectly fine with taking a newbie to the raid as long as they are willing and capable of learning (Last weekend we took in a guy who didn't know anything about the raid and we beat dogs on our 4th try) What I'm not ok with is the jerks that demands everyone to be perfect and no screw up and just act negatively the entire time. I get it if you want to have experience players just don't be a jerk about it. We are all humans (Except Cosmos and Deej) and we all make mistakes. (This isn't specifically directed at OP, more at the people who get mad over every tiny mistake.)

                            • I can see what you are trying to say with good intentions but your title suggests an enforced must for everyone. I personally enjoy playing with my clan who have patience with every member and encourage rather than discourage. This is a game to enjoy and keep playing however there is a toxic thread that runs thru this forum. The thing is the raid has only been out a short time so we need ease back and enjoy. I remember in Destiny 1 so many of my mates raced thru everything so fast that they won everything anf finished too quickly. It is here to be savoured and explored and the joy of gettting rewards is a pleasure. It is good to look at the youtube vids but some people want the surprise. You find other experienced players have checkpoints for fun so you can learn mechanics without pressure. We want to be encouraged not put off. A fine line us forum people tread.

I understand what you are saying.. but bungie dosnt make these videos do they? they made it to where to basically have to interact with others right? if you have beat the raid,, stop being a -blam!-ing douche and show them how to -blam!-ing do it dumbass. not everyone has a computer, tablet, or whatever. things like this are the reason nobody wants to do raids. If you cant accept a person is learning the raid thru the GAME (like bungie most likely wanted),, then you are a pointless destiny player to me. DESTINY LITERALLY WANTED YOU TO MAKE NEW FRIENDS, MAKE YOU TALK TO PEOPLE, HELP NEWCOMERS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN PLAYING DESTINY!! WHYD THEY MAKE CLANS IF YOU CANT HELP SOMEONE IN YOUR CLAN WHO HAS NOT DONE IT.. its ridiculous.

                                  • I get in raid groups with people that say 'know what to do' and then 'oh i usually only run at gauntlets', 'oh i usually run prism on left side in the pleasure gardens', 'oh i'm always in the throne room at calus'. None of the players that I've ever met that post 'know what to do' - know half of what to do. The amount of times someone asks in raids 'who wants to do this?' and no one answers... People don't know how to move around the underbelly of the raid, or how to open the passages out of each encounter when it's faster from one to another if you're going for chests or not. People don't know because they watch too many YouTube videos instead of playing the actual game and learning. They shy away from actually playing that way because they feel they 'must know' how to do something they've never done before. What kind of an expectation is that? If you feel like people are wasting your time, ask before you start the raid. I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to do a raid with experienced players but you gotta let everyone know in your party chat, not on the forums.
