The sleeper was just locked behind a timegate the whole time
The truth us out there, search the landscape he says....
The effort that was put into finding the sleeper especially over at r/searchforthesleeper is unreal. Bungie just let everyone spend countless hours of research and exploring just to laugh at us. This is the biggest disappointment in any game I've ever played. It couldve been so much better than a time released event. I'm still going to play but damn what a let down.
Bump if you agree so they know that simply time stamping a quest is unacceptable and just another artificial way to increase playtime
Edit: bungie said to look so the community did. Had they said nothing i wouldnt be as salty but they said it was out there and thats what bothers me

1 ReplyThe second step was time locked, requiring for us to first collect the Fusion Rifles in the wild (my theory is that the trigger for the second step of the Sleeper quest line will always start on the 7th of each month, but that's unprovable so far). There's no guarantee that it's gonna be smooth sailing from here on out, the same way we don't know if there's gonna be some super puzzle later on. Remember, we haven't gotten the Sleeper just yet.

3 RepliesDude, did you really think it wouldn't be as simple as just getting it handed to us? It's a pretty mediocre exotic fusion rifle. Bungie will catch on to this and they'll probably do something that actually requires to do a bunch of research in the future. Bungie didn't know we'd get all hyped about it and that we started to speculate.

4 RepliesYet all the work they have been doing basically outed the mission prior to release. It was there efforts that kept the hunt for the gun alive and exciting.

You can't get the quest without all four of those Artifacts, but those required minimal searching. I'm still exited we finally come closer to the gun itself.

1 ReplyThis is a theory of mine that probably isn't true: I think that the sleeper quest line was released based on how fast the community was able to collect a certain number of relics. If that is the case I'd be interested to see things come out in this way. But that's just a theory.... A probably not true theory.

Yeah, thats why I dont waste my time on shit like that, people where putting a lot of effort into 'cracking the hidden code' when in fact it was just a timed event. Its just a game people, you think bungie is going to put DaVinci's code in game for the best minds in the community decode?

I think it's hilarious, all along I said it would be triggered by the fusion rifles you turn into banshee. All these ridiculous theories and wasted time for nothing. This is why I patiently waited and wasn't in any rush for it to happen.

So lets learn from our mistake. Whenever bungie says look we just dont look. Play normally and wait for the time to run out. Once it arrives we play it. We all know now how bungie will do these questlines so we just have to wait

You hear that sound? That's all the suspense, speculation, and surprise going out the window. There's no fun in that. So what if people spent time exploring? That was their decision. And the hunt was interesting, people came up with some cool theories, and people were enthusiastic about the game and it's secrets. Me on the other hand, I knew as soon as any clue surfaced I would hear about it on here or Twitter within 30 seconds. I just let the quest come to me and enjoyed the game in the meantime. I didn't lose any sleep hunting and I won't lose any sleep now that I know it was locked behind a time gate. But I will have the weapon eventually, so that counts for something. If you stop and smell the roses there is a lot to enjoy in this game. Rushing through everything only burns you out and leaves you wanting more and more and more until you have nothing left to look forward to.

Not really a time gate. Most people don't even have the four fusion rifles yet. Game hasn't even been out 30 days. Not everyone has gunsmith rank 3 to get class specific exotics or even touch of malice. What are you on about?

I don't think the hunt for the Sleeper Simulant has ended quite yet. Sure, we've finished a step, but I get the feeling there will be more to it than that.
