So what would the alternative be?
"Guys stop looking, one of the biggest secrets in the game will unlock on October 7th Armsday."
You hear that sound? That's all the suspense, speculation, and surprise going out the window. There's no fun in that. So what if people spent time exploring? That was their decision. And the hunt was interesting, people came up with some cool theories, and people were enthusiastic about the game and it's secrets.
Me on the other hand, I knew as soon as any clue surfaced I would hear about it on here or Twitter within 30 seconds. I just let the quest come to me and enjoyed the game in the meantime. I didn't lose any sleep hunting and I won't lose any sleep now that I know it was locked behind a time gate. But I will have the weapon eventually, so that counts for something.
If you stop and smell the roses there is a lot to enjoy in this game. Rushing through everything only burns you out and leaves you wanting more and more and more until you have nothing left to look forward to.

You mean like how the other exotic quests told us to wait until a certain day? They did it for others. Chaperone, exotic swords, first curse...

I think the OP means that this community is so incredibly good at hunting down every last secret that it would have been cool for this gun to have been found by the efford of the community. Not because bungie decided it is now time to release it.

This community could have triggered it somehow, by collectively finding a million DVALIN's or something. I'm curious to see if someone from Bungie comments on it or if anything is revealed in the update tomorrow.

No matter how the community could have triggered it, all those hours people spent hunting were for nothing.

All hours spent playing video games are for nothing when you think about it. If you're not entertained playing the game like this then maybe you need a new game or hobby.

Its about the feeling of getting rewarded in a game that matters a lot. You dont play a game that has no goal to aim towards. The people that went hunting would have loved to be the ones that found it. But now they are the ones that went on a goose chase.

For all we know, we could have done something to trigger it. As a community collect a million of the DVALIN relics or something. Let's see if it's mentioned in the update this week or if DeeJ/Cozmo/Luke comment further.
