Destiny 2 is Bad - A Long Post From a Long Time Veteran Player

**This is a sub account that I started for D2. My main account psn is Kyllap. For those wondering. I've been doing some thinking on this whole playing through Destiny 2, and I have to admit that I don't like this game. I feel that it is a shell of what we had with TTK and RoI, up until the last stretch of D1. Let me say that I have played through D2 on 2 characters (both solo and with a team), I have a large clan, I've done all the activities in the game (including flawless trials and the raid), every strike, etc etc. I'm not 'salty' about this or that. I simply think this game isn't what I thought it was and I am hugely disappointed. Let me list some things I don't like and describe why I don't like them. - 4v4 Crucible. When this was announced I thought, 'eh whatever. It'll be interesting and fun.' And it was fun...for a week. And then I started to miss having 6 people in chat in a fireteam dropping supers and capping zones and talking shit. With this 4v4 only, there are only...4 players....lol... It's just a shell of what it was. Just team shooting. Sure you can pull off some plays here and there, but in the end it's just bad. - Enhanced Aim Assist. Is there any skill left in Destiny? Does it even require skill? Take your crosshairs and hover over an enemy and watch what happened when another enemy crosses your path... The gun literally follows them for feet. Yes there was AA in D1, but this feels like Skylanders. - Actual Content. This has been an issue in Destiny since Destiny was Destiny. And it's STILL an issue. The story spans four planets, but is bland and forgettable. The missions don't scale in difficulty with a fireteam so you just blow right through them. I had to play it again solo just to somewhat enjoy it. Which is laughable in a game that promotes group play and clans and teamwork. Then once you get it done there is zero reason to do Lost Sectors and Adventures unless you care about story simply for the story. Which would be ok, but again there are zero rewards. Why wouldn't they incorporate every single one of these side things into quests, or into the story line? In fact where is the quest tab at all?? Nowhere. Because there are like 4 total quests to give you a MIDA and some other bullshit you'll never use. A MIDA?? From year 1 of Destiny?? Jesus man. I don't get it. - Subclasses. The same three. I need not say more. - Trials of MIDA Multi Tool..... Let me say that I actually enjoy 4v4 Trials. I like the Nine concept and I do think the gear and weapons look cool. I even like the horse at the end. What I HATE is that Bungie has created a meta of multi tools in ONE WEEK. If you use anything other than a MIDA and a Uriel's you're out gunned. So everyone uses that and that's it. In one week. And now the endless 'balance' patches begin which will send you on a goose chase for weapons you dismantled long ago because they sucked ass but now they're op! Same old bullshit. - Graphics. Can you believe this?! I'm complaining about the graphics in Destiny. But I'm not talking about the world designs, particle effects, or skyboxes. No. I'm referring to character models, armor, and shaders. They all look like garbage. Not because the design is bad, but because they have sacrificed character detail to enhance the world. And while I liked it at first, after a while you just want your guardian to look cool, right? But in no way is the same appeal there that D1 had. Everything aside from like 4 shaders looks bland and boring. Emotes are all boring and recycled. The rendering of our guardians is jus bland and honestly kinda fuzzy. - The Raid. To absolute HELL with this raid. It's worse than Kings Fall. I actually enjoyed KF with a good team. But this. This is garbage. Far too many annoying mechanics. Too involved engagements. Checkpoints which need to be obtained again??! Yes I know that opening the door is easy but why must I do that every time or walk some stupid maze? This raid has no replay ability factor for me. I have lead and guided many players through D1 raids many times. I loved it. This raid makes me want to trade in the game. I hate it. The end. *- Thought I would add that running out of ammo DURING a firefight is absolutely ridiculous. And it happens so frequently. I've said on several occasions to my team that I'm just out of ammo.... I will end with this: Bungie told everyone on stage that they wanted to unlock the fun of Destiny. They wanted to make it accessible to a larger audience. They wanted people to experience the raids. Well I can tell you for sure that no one is in the slightest interested in using Guided Games for this raid, or anything like it. I wouldn't even use GG for this week's Nightfall, which is again super annoying and damn near impossible for a majority of players. It's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Let's make a super casual game and then throw The Leviathan at everyone along with a NF like this.... Gooood job Bungie. Ok I'm done.

  • Very true, i miss D1, man there was no better feeling in the world than running raids with your bros all day, and then switching characters to do it all over again, partially for the loot, but mainly becuase it was just super enjoyable. I agree with you always 100%

    • OH MY GOD SHUT THE FU*K UP DUDE! Seriously, do you want some water with your salt, your mouth must be dry as hell?! If you think this game has a lack of content you need to get outside and off the game because you clearly spend to much time to find a lack of content. I have slowly but surely seen a large chuck of this community go to shit with elitist "DAY 1 D1 VET PRO MLG GOD" shit like that somehow makes your comments valid. My biggest concern with bring the PC community in was shit like this, but us console players are starting to do it. The thing we had over them was we didn't sink to elitist wanker levels, but here we go...... But come in close.... SHHHH, SHHHHHHH, it's a secret......
Bungie doesn't give a shit what you think! =O
P.s Love the game. Keep it up boys. xoxo

I would like to point out my biggest bugbear - loot cd's. Wonder why you get loot from a few things then nothing in the next? There's a cd on loot. On Titan for instance you can loot a few nodes/chests and then after that you get glimmer only until the loot cd is over, poorly thought out imo.

        • I'm just -blam!-ing shitty that every -blam!- in pvp uses -blam!-ing mida and Uriels gift, and if you don't stand at the back of the map with 3 others or auto rifle with 3 others in your back pocket you lose. There's no individual skill. The bad games I have are where I just want to run around like you could in D1. Where's the fun in not being able to completely take over a game because of your own skill?

        • I hate to say it, but everything you said is true. I had such high hopes for this game. And it was supposes to add so much more fun to it. And between the timed nightfalls, easy exotics and not fun stupid raid, im really disappointed.

          • We all knew this game was going nna be shit but tried to be hopeful about it. Bungie never gets a red cent from me. After this last release it's obvious they're complacent af and dont give a shit about anything but dollar signs. I don't begrudge these guys trying to make money, but don't be shiester assholes. Destiny is dead....hear me now and believe me later.

          • i think i wrote the same after ps4-beta. I was hyped but now...? I never enjoyed COD but you know what? Im looking for the release of WW2. I think they HAD to make the game like it is: younger playerbase is activisions future OR COD-sellings are going there where they were at the launch of COD btw - enjoyed D1 til release with over 3000hrs playtime; this wont happen in D2

          • 4v4 pvp. That's a huge step backwards! The crucible used to fun in D1 and solo players weren't at such a huge disadvantage. I hoped it would be 8v8 with bigger maps and more chaos but 4v4 is just shitty... sometimes I just run around maps looking for red blips only to run into a team camping in an area... who remembers 6 people all camping a single area in D1?

          • I had thoughts to write something like this player, after reading this I'm going to like and keep it moving. I will add that PvP is now camp with your team in healing rifts around the heavy with a rocket launcher. All points in this post are valid and explain many failures with D2.

          • Agreed, the quality of the game feels so toned down compared to the first game. Crucible for me is no longer fun because it's all team shooting. Bungie's choice to split subclass nods into only two choices killed a lot of the customization in my opinion. As well as them removing shotguns, snipers, and fusion rifles from the secondary slot for balancing reasons I'm assuming sucked out a lot of the fun from the game in both pve and pvp for me. In destiny 1 I had the most fun using unique secondaries like queenbreaker's bow and chaperone or even guns like no land beyond but that is no longer possible

            • The Raid gear looks nice, but isn't that great. You can find vendor gear that's just as good, if not better, than Raid loot.

Teamshooting would be an issue no matter how many or few players were present. This is becvause everything that countered teamshooters (heavies, specials, stickies, or even Supers) has been either eliminated, powered down, or given a vulnerability. In a primary meta, only three things now matter: reaction time, precision, and number of shooters on the target. Think about it... Bungie RUINED Destiny 1's Crucible seven months ago, just to get us ready for Destiny 2's. Is it realistic to expect D2's Crucible to be good? As for why our character in D2 seems bland, it's because they are bland. Bland, silent, emotionless lumps. By any large, I like D2, but this was a disastrous error.

                • Well I agree with you for some part. Destiny 2 PvP is OK, when it does not lag. So about 1 out of 15 games is OK. Guess when Destiny 3 launches it will be 1 out of 30. They steadily improve it. Believe them.

I don't think I've ever seen a community so unwilling to accept someone else's' opinions and thoughts on the game without lynching them. Seems like if you don't bend over for bungie and their stupid practices you are instantly a bad guy and will be harassed by fanboys. It's pathetic

                    • oh my godddddddddd this community is literally aids. Anything that happens people will complain. So what i've gotten from this post is that you miss pub stomping garbage kids in 6v6s with your buddies and thinking you were good, mad because in a shooting game with many different weapon archetypes a meta has appeared, pissy at shaders and "character design" because its not like the customization has been made better overall, right? Please tell me again how many shaders actually looked good in D1. Youre salty about Trials because since everyone wants to get those W's they use the strongest weapons, dont like the new raid because theres "too involved engagements" (???????), mad because in a shooting game you can run out of ammo while firing your guns (who -blam!-ing knew, right?), and lastly salty because you thought it was a casual game and then they throw raid and NF in, it challenges you a little bit, so you get angry because youre a space wizard damnit and this shouldnt be hard. Gtfo if you dont like the game then sell it and get off the forums. But I guarantee youll keep playing because deep down you love it, you sick bastard

                      • I was saying the same thing. Ttk actually changed destiny in my opinion. The gear was fresh, the story was in depth, and the raid felt like a true accomplishment. You could have used ttk for D2! Most of the armor is ugly, the quests aren't exciting or telling a good story, crucible is literally casual trials, and exotics aren't appreciated anymore. Everyone has thrown everything into a rating system instead of just enjoying a great game. Ttk is easily the best thing destiny because they wanted to add a story that connects everything you've accomplished and gives you a sense of a fresh new game.

                      • #1: NPC & Interactions With the Player Character now a silent protagonist, this is the perfect moment to introduce NPC conversation and interactions like we have seen in Elder Scrolls and previous Fallout games. Give the player another avenue to learn about the world while also establishing relationships with characters. Make the Ghost a character we can interact with. Who we can ask questions. Who we can develop a connection with. No one cared about the Last City because they never had any opportunity to talk with them. RPGs make sure that their worlds are Full of characters for players to interact with, both large and small, that make it feel alive. #2: Side Quests This goes back to adding more NPCs. Adding a plethora of side quests to the various NPCs gives the players reasons to explore the environments. Side Quests are a great way of getting players interested in the events going on in the universe. They can be tiny things like; “Please find my Spouse/Child/Pet”, “Please check out this dungeon”, “Please escort me to a location”, etc. little things that flesh out the world. But also having Long storylines that don't pertain to the main story is very important as well. Because when players are done with the main story, they need something else to invest themselves in while waiting for the next big threat. #3: Wildlife Destiny takes place 1000 years in the future. I'm sure with nature taking over, and who knows what was done in the golden age, that there are plenty of fauna for players to see running around. Deer, Elk, Wild Dogs, Birds, maybe a bear, etc. The world is a big place, fill it. Just like NPCs, open world games feel empty without wildlife. #4: character creation I would think that when you take advantage of creating a sequel and implement a better character creation. Simply put we need more options when creating a character. We have very few faces to choose from and we can't customize facial features such as, the nose, ears, mouth, eyes, chin, cheekbones, eyebrows, etc. Also where are the beards? There's a character we meet in destiny 2 who has a beard, but we can’t get one? #5: Lore This is the Big One. Like other Story heavy games, have a lore codex that players can look at in the game. Have it start out with any basic information the player is curious about, then have it update with each new finding, encounter, and as you progress through the story. Also put Books, Journals, Audio files, Drawings, etc. things that players can check out. Fill the ruins of humanity with lore about the Golden Age. Having the option to ask the Ghost questions about the world, would be a great way to introduce and immerse players into the universe. But Make sure that lore can be talked about through NPC interaction. (The Fact that DOOM has a better lore system is troubling, considering story doesn’t matter in that game at all.)

                      • The story/campaign annoyed me. They suggested that it was going to be epically long... Hmmm, don't think so! I'm not a PvP player, I love PvE, but it stopped way short of wanting to dive in again and again! :-(
