a tip to get better loot from the raid
I've used this method multiple times and have a high success rate. I just completed the raid as I type this post, and I got the boots, the chest, the helm, plus other shit all in one run.
It's simple actually. If you are able to do the hard mode raid, you have a simple advantage. When doing the hard mode raid first instead of doing normal mode then hard mode, you get the normal mode loot from checkpoints and bosses, WITH your hard mode loot.
That is a huge difference and I'll explain why. When doing the raid on normal mode you get your rewards pulled from the "normal mode loot pool/table". So if you complete it on hard first instead of normal, you get BOTH loot piles from the hard mode loot pool table. Thus, giving you a better and more efficient chance at getting raid gear or weapons. I haven't been dissatisfied with this method yet.
EDIT: I never said that this method is 100% or is a sure fire way. I'm merely pointing out that it gives you better chances to get what you're looking for since both rewards come from the hard mode pool. Don't do hard mode one time then tell me I'm an idiot because you got a ship and energies. Obviously it's still an RNG and will more than likely take over 1 attempt.
EDIT 2: I already proved that it pulls your normal mode loot from hard mode loot pool. If you aren't understanding that, or comprehending HOW that can be helpful for you, then don't worry about it. Pretend you didn't even read this. And don't wonder why I didn't reply to you.
EDIT 3: stop asking me to explain why you only get ships and energies from atheon. This method is for the ENTIRE raid run. I'm talking about all the chests, all the checkpoints. Not for you weak ass atheon farmers. If you want something other than a ship and materials, do the whole raid.

The op is kind of right in that if you wanted a raid helmet for example then doing Atheon on hard only will give you double the chance of getting a helmet as you will get 3-5 drops. This works with any hard only such as Time Piece, fatebringer, Praetorian foil, helmet, Vex etc. But doesn't make a difference if you want loot that is available in normal raid. This is how I have all raids weapons. 2 full sets of hunter raid gear and one set of warlock gear.

Chest: Shards Oracle: Energy Templar: Shards and Energy Chest: Shards and Fragment of Prime (Already had) Chest: Energy Gatekeeper: Shards Atheon: Legendary ship, chatterwhite (Already had both) Shards and Energy Last Week Warlock 2 Chest: Shards and Energy Oracle: Energy Templar: Energy Chest: Shards and Fragment of Prime (Already had) Chest: Energy Gatekeeper: Shards and Energy Atheon: Sparrow, Ice Breaker (Already had) 2 raid helmets (Already had) This week Warlock 1 Chest: Shards and Energy Oracle: Shards Templar: Shards Chest: Shards And Energy Chest : Energy Gatekeeper: Shards Atheon: Sparrow (Already had ), Chatterwhite (Already had ) 2 legendary ships (Already had ) This week Warlock 2 Chest: Shards Oracle: Shards Templar: Shards Chest: Shards Chest: Energy Gatekeeper: Shards and Energy Atheon: Shards, Energy, Chatterwhite and legendary ship (Already had) That being said RNG has hated me this past 2 weeks

2 RepliesIt makes sense to just do the Hard mode once and get all your rewards than to do normal and then hard. It doesn't really increase your chances tho. You could get two ships anyway.

Every time you loot a "boss" in the tier two raid without having looted that part on tier one you get credited for tier one completion and granted a second roll from the tier two loot pool. This means you [b]double[/b] your [i]CHANCES[/i] of getting an item that is only in the hard loot pool. You might get 6 ascendant material, or items present in the lvl 26 raid. This is because the tier two pool contains everything the tier one pool has, but it also has items withheld from the easy raid. Long story short you are screwing yourself over by doing it on easy before going back to do it on hard. So if there is a chance* you might get to run it on hard (yes ppl run it for fun despite already getting their drops for the week) then hold off on easy until the weekend at least. *you [b][u][i]need[/i][/u][/b] to be lvl 29. Your team needs you to survive and even 1. Lvl 28 can hold back a group not used to each other.

4 RepliesI think this is true what you said if what i'm about to say is not wrong :) But i bet you can't have 2 same item in the same phase of loot ? so if you kill the templar you will not reveive 3 vengeance of heze :p So you clearly get a better chance to have somes other loot :)

5 RepliesThis is great advice. I’ve heard that you get double the drops because it’s basically what you would have gotten from normal as well as what you’re getting from the hard. I’d never really thought about the fact both lots would be from the hard selection of items. Now I just need to find a 5 man team to add me for hard :p I’ve still only attempted normal mode.

Yes this has worked for me as well. Nothing with RNG will give you a 100% chance, but a chance on the hard loot table would be better normal.
